I know that I should be rating the release, but I gotta say that's the most informative nfo I've ever read....

errr maybe too informative... wow read that featured section...

If only you could vote on quality of the .NFO files! Give JB a 10! Lots of information!

800mb menu? ouch

Posted by Triffid on 01-19-2006 03:34 AM:

Why is the menu 800Mb? It's huge. And, it explains the low bitrate even though all extras have been stripped.

Posted by lostaznguy on 01-19-2006 05:21 AM:

I was thinking the same thing too...Answers all the questions we might have of group's release...

Checked out sample.... 9!
and yes 10 on nfo!

you have to be insane to do a movie/menus only rip and leave the 800mb menu untouched.

instead of wasting time doing 9 passes they should've stripped/transcoded unnecessary menu cells to get the main feature bitrate to 4,000+

Agreed... He should have spent less time with "da bitch" and more time beating the menu up. 3300kbit/sec video doesn't make my juiced flow, especially since the menu is responsible for ~800kbit/sec of vid quality... Say the menu was the same as the R3 (192megs). Could have had 3900kbit/sec.

Dunno what to think here. The R3 TGP release is still on my HD and not getting rid of it just yet.

SIDE NOTE (for people interested): 9 passes is pointless. Quality gained from passes are exponential, where most quality is gained within the 1st pass (of the Multi-pass encode). By the 4th pass, it's pretty much as good as you'll get. The bits are finite. The VAF only slightly changes the result and instead of 9120kbit in a certain scene, might get adjusted to 9125, while another scene lowers from 2120 to 2115. Most of the major bit allocations occur early in the encode. Passes do not mean the same encoded video is passed by 9 times, but each pass the video does, encodes the video for the first time, just with slightly different video bandwidth allocation each time (where the start point is a CBR based on your first pass kbit value you selected).

Whats the point of having a menu if there are NO extras.

You can change the languages and subs from the movie anyway.

There ARE people out there that do exactly this.

But you wont find them here.

Second:

Their releases are flawless and I take their stuff over any other group that you see listed here.

I wouldnt say No Menu's as i personally like Menu's, and get annoyed when certain DVD's auto play the movie first, and bypass the menu, its part of the whole presentation of DVD in my opinion.

But Definetly downsample the menu's, you could easily half the bitrate of the menu, maybe more and it would still be decent enough, possibly even convert the menu's to stills for the overly big ones.

As for the video quality, im still prefering the TGP R3 one, might stick with that untill a Region1 DVD9 appears.

8/9/?

Thank goodness for XPDVD though.

An Internal release with untouched video has been released.

i had a problem with the TPG release, the image kept studdering, even when mounted on pc with d-tools. this one is much better thx!

The movie was not near as good as the first one. Sadly. Big Zorro fan here.

Burned and watched it on the tele. Was good, however sometimes in the big action scenes it appeared to be a little grainy. Not sure what that was caused by.

Anywho, that aside, it was not as crisp as it could be. From what yall are saying on here, the size of the menu caused that. I don't know, I don't make the movies. I am just apprecitive that they are released.

Thanks to the releaser. Most def one to buy.

Tele: 42 Inch
Sound: 5 Disc Sony 5.1
Video: 8 - Action scenes appeared a little grainy, and video did not seem as sharp as it could be.
Audio: 8 Good audio, but I cannot wait for DTS.
Movie: 7 Not near as good as the first one. Hopefully, they do not screw up the third one. (If there is one)
