yeah ... i think ima grab this UNTOUCHED vz that RAGEDVD wich has a not too good video bitrate .... anyways...

Video-9
Audio-9
Movie-7

Video is perfect... Personally loved the film (mostly because of the way it was done). Was torn between the Rage and the XPDVD only because of the extras. Really wanted to see the "making of" the puppets, sets and the process of filming (yep, I actually want to see extras).

But ended up with this one, and I am not disappointed since the video is great. Extras last one viewing usually, the movie will be pulled out more times. Plus I'll pick this one up used at Blockbuster anyways eventually.

Video 11/10 - Getting original with my scoring. Digital print. No grain. Perfect colors/contrast. Better than the DVDScreener (which was pretty good for a CBR). THERE was a tiny bit of artifacting during credits and the butterfly end scene, but who cares.

::EDIT - Checked out the Rage... I hate extras that are 4:3 ratio... Video quality of the extras looks dirt poor also. Extras do not appeal to me as much as I hoped also... Oh well...::

Anyone have any trouble playing back chapers 21-24 or notice any probs regarding it's structure?

Posted by fakerbaker on 01-20-2006 10:47 AM:

yeah the dvd structure is badly off and refuses to play on my pioneer 350 also.better waiting for a better ripped version as it'll likely be nuked for that reason

Posted by FantomAU on 01-20-2006 01:26 PM:

Yeah there seems to be a problem with the structure. When I burned it, It didnt goto the main menu, It strangly went to the special features menu. DVDShrink wouldnt even load it, Said error in 1 of the vob files.

After messing around with it, I got it to work fine.

Umm, nope... What sort of problems are we talking? Also which sort of player were you using.

This dvd has invalid navpacks in vts_03, wich might cause problems on less forgiving players; an ifoedit mock-strip will fix it!

I watched this today, worked good for me. Looked a lot better then that RAGE one. (by far)

Didnt have any problems at all. I didn't strip it down like I do with some to check bitrates and so forth. Usually Replica and XPDVD I rarely have any problems with.

my .02

Hate to disagree with you josh but this doesnt work properly structire is fucked xpdvd really needs to learn to fight the protection properly. Hopefully they will pre a fix like the fog. Check it again and please make the patch cause I sure as hell dont wanna leech the ragedvd.

P.S. yeah im to lazy to fix it. But it can be fixed.

What is the exact problem visually on the screen that I should be looking for? I just skimmed around 22-24 without problems. I'm curious before I get the IMG again and wait for a patch Hope there is both a PPF and the IFO file patch version (in the same RAR) for those that either have the image or the IMG already burned. Unless the problem is in the VOB

Tim.Burtons.Corpse.Bride.WS.2005.NTSC.DVDR.NAVPACK.PPF.PATCH-XPDVD

Well I guess there was a problem. I didnt see it either. Must have been a small glitch i guess *dunno*, guess I'll reburn it just for the sake of arguement.

Posted by activoice on 01-21-2006 04:01 PM:

I guess the problem is DVD player specific... On my Pioneer DV333 when I insert the disc the player just hangs... So I have to hit stop, then Menu to get to the main menu... If I hit Play from the menu it also hangs and the player just shows searching.. If I play using Chapter one on the scene selection menu then it will play fine.

If I select chapter 21 from the scene selection it takes me to one of the extras...

Hopefully there is some kind of IFO fix, I'm not going to re-download this...

EDIT: I was able to image the disc I originally burned back to an ISO, and patch. Looks like that worked, discs plays ok now, chapter points work properly aswell.

Hi,

Grabbed this release as it was uncompressed compared to the other one. As most feedback was positive I burnt it and deleted the image - a bad move it seems.

Yep, there is a problem and I also hope there are fixed files as well as a patch. Any DVD check / repair / mod s/w I run the files through shows a problem, even though for the most part the files play ok.

Other than that - great release in terms of picture quality - what else is to be expected.

Posted by kling0n on 01-21-2006 11:59 PM:

I md5 compared the files <100K from the patched vs unpatched release, and found that 4 files were modified. I compared the CRC32 value of the actual movie vobs and find them to be identical.. so if you already burned the movie do not dispair, just re-rip and replace with these 4 files:

The patch corrects errors in: VIDEO_TS.BUP VIDEO_TS.IFO VTS_03_0.BUP VTS_03_0.IFO

::EDIT:: Link to files removed by Moderator::

Nice rip. No real complaints about the picture or sound quality. Is it me or do the captions slope slightly from left to right? Can't say if the patch helped with navigation as I got bored after 30 mins and switched off.

BTW a joke lost on non-UK audiences is that Paul Whitehouse based the voice of Victoria's father on the present day Mayor of London.
