No real problems here, video looks nice enough, albeit dark, and sound is excellent.

Was inititally concerned about the bitrate, and the fact that if i hate this movie i wont watch the extras, but Replica have done a good job as usual.

Judged from the first 60 rars.
8/9/?

I think im gonna wait for another version. I never watch any extras EVER no matter what they are and doom is a dark movie which needs all the quality it can get. I would rather they strip all the extras and keep video quality as high as possible.

Agreed.

This is probably going to be the only DVDR of it, unless someone does an internal. However, typical Replica job. Video is alright.

8/8/? (turned it off part way through, not worth finishing)

I dunno... Replica is so inconsistent with what they do with their releases. Tonnes of extras, no extras, little extras, commentary, no commentary... Bitrates varying from low 3000's to high 4000's. Not knocking Replica, just wished they were a bit more consistent.

I am sure the video on the retail isn't too hot to begin with. But that's more the reason to ditch some more of these useless extras. The movie sucked (Uwe) balls... Another bad video game --> movie experiment.

But as gibber said, this is the only/best we're gonna get. Not worth it anyways.

7/10 video - Probably the fault of the retail. But who cares anyways. Unless you have the retail, you really never know what you're missing quality wise. Ignorance is bliss.

i don't see anything wrong with this release, then again i'm not a picky bastard lol.

porco, afaik Uwe Boll did not have a hand in this. IMDB makes no mention of his name on their page for this movie.

I know that... This movie sucks just like Uwe Boll's video game --> big screen adaptations. Just doing a parallel... Must have connected them too closely.

WELL< OK... Uwe Boll movies are far worse than this one (House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark to name a couple). But while we're here, anyone have a good video game --> movie titles (or vice versa)? Last one I had was The Goonies. I loved the game back in like '85 One of the worst IMO was Street Fighter The costumes were embarassing (not an Uwe Boll, but REALLY bad).

Video and sound were good, the movie wasnt.

Dooms storyline isn't that great to begin with, but that's not what made the game so popular.

Good quality for me.

Well, another great release

8/8/7

A very dark movie at times, and not the greatest film ever, but the latter comment has nothing to do with the release as such - groups can only release what's there. Personally, I liked the film better than I thought I would - it could have been much worse. The way the doom idea was mixed with the new style story - worked for me.

Would a higher bitrate have improved things that greatly - not sure.

There was nothing wrong with this release for me either. Thx Replica

Posted by immun3 on 01-24-2006 11:18 AM:

Nice rip Replica, thanks again for another good release!

Video - as has been mentioned, probably not the greatest retail to begin with.....was always going to be dark. A healthy bitrate at 3800/kbps but not marvelous.....

As for the extra's content, im very happy that a few have been left in, as mentioned by Porco, Replica is very inconsistent with what they leave and dont leave from release to release but here i can see why they have done.

The bitrate on the extra's is pretty bad (lots of wavy lines to be honest) BUT they are pretty lengthy, not just two minutes of useless Deleted Scenes crap. I especially found the Doom Nation to be a nostalgic watch, and the extended FPS extra scene was also well worth keeping......

Audio - can't be faulted.

Movie - far and away above anything Uwe Boll can do!! Albeit not the greatest film you'll ever watch, it is enjoyable. And for the Doom fanatics (like me) its another piece to add to the memories.

Take it easy

Guys

Take it easy on this rip. I burned it and watched it on my 42" and it was just fine. This whole dark movie thing. Its not that dark scene wise. Its not HD, but its not VHS. Quality wise, it meets most dvds period.
