Nice rls from Alliance, have been put off watching this acclaimed biopic but i will be watching it now Glad i didn't get tempted into getting the recent Babies DVDScreener.

Video - from the early rar's ive viewed is crisp and clear. Colours are great....a good encode overall.

Audio - they have decided to go with mp3 audio as opposed to AC3, with this film it may deserve more......but still is in sync as of yet and sounds decent enough.

Movie - finally got a spare couple of hours last night to watch. Was impressed to be honest, maybe a little too much singing and not enough about his life.....but its not a bad mix, the singing is well done. An entertaining watch all round, not knowing too much about Johnny Cash previous to watching this film, i now feel pretty enlightened

Actually the Sample is 5.1 AC3 from what I see. Pic is a lot better than the DVDSCR.

I just un-rar'd cd1 and viewed it remotely with g-spot 2.52.
It reports 0x2000(AC3, Dolby Laboratories, Inc) AC3
48000Hz 448 kb/s total (5 chnls)

Video looks perfect

Maybe it should be nuked for mislabled audio lol.

I stand corrected then, i was going on the statement made within the .nfo which does specify MP3

G-Spot does indeed reveal an AC3 codec, thanks for running those checks you two! Just goes to show you never can trust the nfo lol.

I found this:

Alliance used the Dvdscr too.. They just cropped the video.
Proof: Look at the bottom

What do you think?

heh first time they added audio in the nfo and they mess up ;p

x/x/x - will edit later ;D

you could be right figeto.. if you look at the thing shes holding.. you see those things closest to the mic.. in the dvd scr you can see there are 4 1/4 of them and on the dvdrip you only see 3 1/2.. i dont know what shes really holding so its kind of hard to explain sorry.. but just look and you will see it..

That is just a case of cropping a bit more, which actually might be fine giving that there could be mess on the edges, as the source is different to BABiE's source.

ALLiANCE's rip is definitely from a retail source.. enough proof to tell this is true is the retail DVDR IS out.

Regarding the rip, well it's ok, a little less sharp than I was expecting. Some closeups are quite blocky. Given the length of the movie I think it's fine though.

Doesn't seem any better than the babies screener, and as noted may be the same source with slight crop. Seems strange that they would do that with the dvd being out, but you never know. I'll keep this one and pass on my babies dvd to my mum, as I always end up getting the dvd-rip of a film if I liked it. Audio and picture are both excellent, as you would expect.
The only gripe I had with the movie is that there is too much music, not enough life-story or insight into the man himself. Jaquims rendition of Cash songs has been praised my most reviewers, but honestly, as a fan, it's far from great. He simply has no chance in hell of capturing the power and energy of a great musical talent like that. If you're a fan, keep that in mind and you will still enjoy the film.

Could be wrong, but I believe XPD is the DVDR release branch of the same team who released the XviD DVD rip (ALLiANCE), so yeah.

Great quality, both picture and sound. Movie was very good, altho a touch boring too imo.
