Very nice copy, spot on Untouched video, maybe not as good video quality as some other CGI movies ive saw like Monsters Inc, but nice nonetheless.

Audio is great too, Disney do bang out good 5.1 tracks, spanish 5.1 which is suppose is nice.

Can comment on the DVD structure as i have no room to unrar, but the first 7 and half of rar 8, only have a black screen, will look more into what that is when i get some space back.

9/10/?

V - 9
A - 9

I would give 10, but not sure if it really is uncompressed - but it looks that way.

The dvd structure is somewhat messed up in that the first play will jump between items that have been blanked but not properly removed, and the menu only appears after the first play. Still, these things can be tidied up - nice early release.

Well, here I go again. Bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch...

Not only is this release undersized (I believe... never cared for that rule too much), but they even kept 438 megs of empty VOB. Even with the Spanish audio, the movie is still only 3.65gigs on the disc. And the disc goes straight to movie without going to the menu first (on PowerDVD).

I already burned it, and I am not looking back. But with upwards of 800 unused megs, they could have put in a few extras.

But of course, the good point is, untouched video... That is about all I personally care. So I am happy with that.

DVD-R 7/10 - At least they didn't re-encode it to keep something stupid. But on the flip side, they DID keep something stupid.

great copy....movie plays first that is because how disney dvds work nowadays

porco, I love your critical reviews, they are usually the only ones worth reading.

Posted by Athlon64 on 02-16-2006 10:33 PM:

I can confirm what porco556 said. The movie plays first before the menu does. I'm not sure if it's like that on the retail DVD. It is untouched video I think... so I can forgive just like porco556.

It is undersized and some extra's would have been nice.

O I C

That explains alot. I wonder if I can switch that around so the menu can go first. Hmmm....

DVD seems badly mastered. Does a fair bit of chapter flicking before the movie actually starts (took about 20 seconds on both of my dvd players. One expensive, one cheap).

Posted by snowy1998 on 02-18-2006 01:16 AM:

The chapter flicking is most likely becuase most Disney DVD's I have seen autoplay the movie like everyone has been saying, but usually are preceeded by a plethora of 'coming soon' trailers and plugs for other dvd's. It is the removal of these (most likely as blanked chapters) that usually cause this phenomenon.

Posted by simmo on 02-19-2006 09:16 AM:

Mine plays chapter one then goes back and starts playing again.Only way i can view is to go into the chapter selection and choose the next chapter.
