I agree with everything but the but about can xvids. If its going to suck why do i want to download an extra cd?

Posted by betelgeus on 04-18-2006 04:24 AM:

you people should leave,it,s 2006,all svcd'ers are the same huge vhs collection, spend 60 quid on a friday night out and are to tight to buy decent equiptment that you use for the remaining 6 days, stop asking for super videos nobody wants them, inferior resolution and sound but takes twice as long to download work it out,it isnt rocket sience.

oh as for film 7/7/and who cares im not barry norman

Red face

Yes I agree no need for svcd anymore xvid smaller and easy to convert to DVD as for the release seen a lot worse but not the best.

6/6/5

Because any cam i do watch, is watched on a standalone, the playback is better than that of a computer, where as i usually view XviD's on the computer if i havnt already converted it to DVD.

Alot of ppl here would have reasons why it should/shouldnt be done, and its how the scene has been for years, why change it now?

We should adopt cam xvids because of the same reason we adopted SVCDs despite opposition from people who didn't want to upgrade thier players back in the VCD only days, simply because it's a better codec.

6/6/?

Cam XVId's are pushing it a lil, i feel the VCD section should be killed in years to come when xvid players become more common place, but until then let people watch their [S]VCD's on the tv

I have a dvd player that playes xvid (cheap as) but still convert to dvd to share with friends and of course add chapters

Posted by prozac133 on 04-19-2006 10:09 AM:

yes but in a few years XviD will be what SVCD is today. And this whole process will repeat itself.

Posted by betelgeus on 04-19-2006 01:04 PM:

iljs you're looking at it arse backwards.even with decent download speeds, considering xvid takes half the time to download, you could have the xvid downloaded, converted to dvd(20 mins with win avi)burnt and most probably watched before the svcd version has completed downloading.plus you dont have to get up half way through.

even if you dont have standalone divx.

they slated maven for turning to xvid.everything is much faster these days, surely we who are to be considered the more technical age should be the last to hang on to outdated concepts.

Posted by dontbegay on 04-19-2006 01:39 PM:

they could do away with vcd / svcd altogether for me.

its a pointless format when you can buy a standalone xvid player for 45£

long live xvid

from the sample

Keep up noob. Get yourself an xvid player, fit lots of films on one dvd, good for a lazy movie/tv marathon without having to fuck about with loads of discs.
