UNWATCHABLE !!!

I was so pumped for this release. I was hoping a good TS would have come out when it was in the theaters but unfortunately great TS's are a thing of the past these days.

As far as this release goes, it's unwatchable. It's all because of one thing: the audio.

First off it's mono audio. Secondly it's some form of mono audio that my elite $800 DD/DTS decoder can't encode into multi-channels. Lastly it cuts in and out to where you can only hear every other syllable of what people are saying.

What a joke. Stay away from this release!

It is possible it was a bad burn but everything went correctly plus I've never seen this issue that I can remember. I haven't burned a coaster in 2,000+ burns (nor seen this issue in the same amount of burns) !!

Just say "no" kiddies!!

BTW, the picture quality was great though. Not only fairly sharp for a dvdscr, but fills up my WS HDTV which I like. Too many rls's these days still have black bars even on WS's. Some people say that's the only way to get the 'whole picture' but I still prefer my WS screen filled and without bars.

So anyway here's the breakdown I forgot in previous post:

Picture -- 10 -- Again, above average dvdscr IMO. Didn't watch but ~5 minutes since it's unwatchable b/c of the audio, but didn't see any watermarks or timers or anything like that.

Audio -- 0 -- This audio literally makes the movie unwatchable. Should have been a nuke.

Movie -- So long as it follows the original from decades ago, which I'm sure it does, it gets a 9. Give or take 1 point depending on how good of a remake it is. I'll have to wait until I see the retail I suppose, though.

I agree, Terrible Audio, but thats because its not a DVD Screener its actually a Telecine, its the only way to tell these days as Telecines appear to be getting better again.

Video quality is very good for a TC, though dont agree its retail quality or anywhere near.

and Air1, its up to the Director if they film the movie in 2:35:1 which still leaves bars or in 1:85:1 or 1:78:1 which is the AR of your TV, and wont leave any bars.
I personally dont really care, and still love 2:35:1 movies as they look much, much better at the cinema, plus why dont you just do a small zoom, and crop the sides off.

Anyways.

As a DVD Screener

8/2/?

As a Telecine

9/2/?

video on this is amazing quality, watchin the img on my computer i didnt notice the audio being too bad other then being mono, will check when i burn. didnt watch the earlier releases, this one is top notch, most likely a tc and not a studio release.

and I scream at the sky
Every day I ask myself why?
So much pain pouring
from inside
Above me I feel the spirit fly

I never said the video was as good as retail. I don't know where you got that. ROFL.

And yes, I know it's up to the director/producers/studio/distributors as to what AR they will use for the final product.

And no, the black bars isn't a huge issue (as you seem to think I think it is) even on my WS TV.... I just prefer to have my whole screen used since it is WS afterall. So no zooming here for many reasons:

1 - I don't mind the black bars on WS releases that still have them (as I've just stated); just that I prefer they aren't there.

2 - I prefer to watch any and all DVD's the way they were meant to be watched... This means no zooming because I want what the studio wants us to have. I want the full picture provided.

3 - A final comment on zooming is that it produces artifacting, blurs, fuzziness, and just overall static/noise in the picture.

But anyway....

Since this is a TC and all (doesn't surprise me you said that since the scene is becoming more unreliable for tags, quality releases, etc. these days), surely the not only mono audio but the fact that it's the crappiest encode of mono I've ever heard of or seen AND since you only get 1/2 of every second's worth of it (it's like someone turns the volume up and down as quick as they can), then surely this piss-poor group knew it was crappy audio. If they knew it was crappy audio, they shouldn't have released it.

It's literally so bad, for the um-teenth time now, that this releases should be nuked everywhere since it's unwatchable. Even had they not known during the encoding process, it's still standard for groups to test their sh*t before they rls it.

Too bad, too, since this rls is so promising with the picture quality and all....

Oh well. :\
