howdy

would have been better to remove the Widescreen/Full Screen option

Full Screen gets u stuck in a loop

had to eject disc and start again

remember the demographic is the 3-6 year old on this one

poor blighters would be mighty stuck

then again, they are smart these days!

The patch only fukd it up for me. The menu kept looping after hitting play. And then when chosing to play from the scene selection, it went back to the menu as well. Just burnt the original image without the patch. Hope another working patch comes out. I have a Yamaha DVD S657.

*edit*
The original image also is caught in a loop but when i just put the disc in it plays straight off without going to the menu. Oh well. I think I'll just take the menu out all together on this one, unless of course a patch comes out for this looping issue.

it does say WS in title so why would u try the FS in the first place u know its not going to work. Don't get me wrong taking out that selection screen would of been the thing to do but come on thinking a little bit also works wounders. it plays fine when u pick WS

Ermmm this one didnt work on VLC and PGCEDIT Trace Mode. It just goes back to menu after hitting play, however it worked fine on PowerDVD. Im not burning this one until a patch or a proper release comes out.
Btw, AR selection screen still there, all warnings messages included, unused menu buttons not removed... cmon XPDVD, i know u can do better than this.

Yea the patch works fine. All Menu's etc as they should be.

I have checked trace mode in PGCEdit and it works fine patched or unpatched here. Never trust powerdvd to test DVDs anyway only IFOEdit is reliable. I have tested a burnt patched copy on 4 DVD players now and all are fine.

I applied the patch. The DVD has 2 problems:
1) Some of the buttons that went to nowhere were not blanked. Drawing with Jim Davis[3 buttons]/Music Video [1 button]

2) If you pop the DVD into a player and DO NOT hit the 'Play widescreen extended edition' button within 20 seconds the DVD moved on to the main menu. It looks all good but the movie will not play.... it just loops back onto the main menu again.

If you hit the 'Play widescreen extended edition' button within 20 seconds the DVD goes to the main menu and the movie plays OK.

I screwed with this thing all afternoon using IFOEdit/VobEdit/PGCEdit/MenuEdit and DVDRemake Pro. It was a bitch. Normally blanking the opening AR choice screen and forcing it to go to the main menu is pretty easy with DVDRemake Pro but not this time. Final solution was make opening screen stay open infinitely [instead of 20 seconds] so you HAVE to hit the button to get to the main menu.

Lipservice I am little confused by your post, you say you have applied the patch, then you say about unremoved buttons. The patch didn't remove the buttons?

In the unpatched version the commands look like this for

VTSM4, LU1(EN),9 (0:00) 2b

********** pre commands:
1 if ( gprm(3) == 41477 ) then { Set gprm(3) =(mov) 41466 } <-- Set before menu is played!
********** post commands: <-- Waits 20 secs for selection then runs post commands if nothing is selected.
1 Set gprm(14) =(mov) 0 <-- Same Command as the Fullscreen button so it plays the fullscreen version as default if nothing is selected.
2 LinkPGCN PGC 1

In the patched version the commands should look like this for

VTSM4, LU1(EN),9 (0:00) 2b

********** pre commands:
1 if ( gprm(3) == 41477 ) then { Set gprm(3) =(mov) 41466 }
2 Set gprm(14) =(mov) 101 <-- Same Command as the Widescreen button
3 LinkPGCN PGC 1

As the commands in the patched version have been moved to pre it doesn't wait 20 secs, automatically selects widescreen and moves onto PGC1 without the cell ever being played.

I hope you can see from my explaination it is impossible for a patched version to play the fullscreen version. I would re-extract the image and patch it again.

I stand corrected!

After looking at your post DeViT I did it all over again. After extracting the img file I applied the sKs-garfield2ppf.ppf patch. I looked at the commands and they were unchanged! I grabbed a different patch from a newsgroup. Same thing... no change. Then I figured it out. My old version of the PPF Patcher was not working right. I grabbed the latest version [ppf-o-matic3] and tried it again. IT WORKED.

BTW, before it never did play FS, just was a hassle getting it to play the WS correctly.

Thanks DeViT. Your post helped a lot. I never did bother to examine the original img before patching it. So I just figured the patch was hosed.

Can anyone tell me if there are any extras with this one? If not, I will download and just bypass the menu structure and have the film go straight into play. This will remove the looping problem.
So are there extras and if there are - are they worth keeping??
Thanks.

In a word, no. Good movie though.

Audio broke up on Philips DVD 963SA (patched version). Played fine on Pioneer and Panasonic though. PGCedit listed a catalogue of wrong stream information on the patched version but I can't tell if that was related to the audio problem or not.
