Dammit... They cut out the short. I missed the short in theaters and hoped I'd catch it here Kept stupid deleted scenes instead. I guess I am a firm believer of "they were cut for a reason".
Good release overall. Going to get the full DVD later anyways. Similar caliber of Over the Hedge for video. 9/10 video I guess, didn't see anything too wrong with it, but I didn't really look too hard for problems, but nothing jumped out.
Untouched would look better though (duh!), especially on movies like this... But we'll just have to wait for that when it comes out most likely.
The short wasn't as good as some. Just two "one-man bands" competing for a tip from a little girl.
Anyways judging by the sample the video is pretty good but I bet it could have been better if they would have removed the deleted scenes. I havent finished downloading the release yet but knowing Replica I would be willing to bet they didnt remove the unused buttons.

If you want the short, get the maVen TS, which has it included just fine.
As a DVDR, this is a good one. Up to the norm with Replica.
Only viewed sample, so can't comment on if a PPF will be needed for this.
Decent enough release but this one really needs a DVD9 as there is obvious compression noise . They should have left out the deleted scenes , menu and the THX calibration patterns so improve bitrate . Will grab the retail on Nov. 7th .

To the point: This is another fine piece of work from Replica. Quality is plenty good.

Very Decent rip, although Video quality could be better, but i dont think thats Replica's fault, some Pixar DVD's havent looked as good as you would of liked, with the exception of Monsters Inc, which is stunning looking.
Audio is a great 5.1 EX track, which as usual by Pixar sounds great.
Not keen on Pixar deleted scenes as, well they arent that pretty to look at. so that always puts me off watching them, but have to disagree on removing them making a difference to the video quality, the deleted scenes are only 119mb in size, meaning they only have a video bitrate of about 13-1400k, so by removing the deleted scenes, the movie would of had an extra 140k of bitrate, no-one, no matter how fussy or how big their TV is gonna see the difference.
Only quibble i have is, they also left the THX Optimiser and the 43mb sample file, which prob wasnt needed, and the advanced button on the THX Optimiser doesnt go anywhere, and crashes one of my DVD Players, but apart from that, this is as good as your gonna get on a DVD5.
9/10/7
just finished watching sound and video is fine it would be perfect if they had not have to chop out some of the extra features of the dvd,but you do not look a gift horse in the mouth.5 weeks before uk retail..sweet enough for me..

Nice release as usual from Replica.
Only minor problems like the forementioned THX Optimiser and layer breaks left in which i found strange since it was encoded video.

Wrong, Replica has left unused buttons many times. In fact their last release "Over The Hedge" had several unused buttons left. There have been plenty more but I'm too lazy to argue about it and look them all up. Don't get me wrong, Replica is a trustworthy group as far as the dvd's being authored properly, they just get lazy sometimes with unused buttons and they seem to be infatuated with deleted scenes even though removing them would mean better quality.
hmm
Well noone seems to have a problem playing this in a standalone except for me? It will load the disk and displays the title, but when you hit play it reads error no disk. wtf?
hmm is noone having any trouble playing this in a stand alone? It will load the disk and read the title but the second you hit play it goes to error no disk?
I see this has turned into the usual 'brawl' about who said what etc, lol
My thoughts on the menu size are always the same, so Im always supprised when the groups release stuff with 200mb+ size menus. (218mb on this release)
The menu could've been shrunk (using menuShrink & keeping the audio AND the main transistional screens) to save at least 200mb - which would've left room for the animated short.
This reminds me of the Madagascar rip where the Penguin animation short was removed - pointless.
Lets face it, do we really need large menus when we are trying to achieve the highest bitrate possible?.
Its ok if the video is untouched, obviously, but not if it means sacrificing picture quality & the desired extras.
All in all, a decent rip/release, but we all know it could've been better!
