quite OK, not the best TC .. But it will do just fine
Went through it very quickly (so dont know about sync issues, but so far none encountered)
p 8 decent (lil saturated)
a 7 kinda hollow
m ? supposedly very good
v- 8.5 i would be very happy if all TC's were this good
a- 7 sounds a bit hollow , didn't notice any
sync issues
m- havnt watch it yet
Quality it is, you can't say that this release is bad.
V - 7
A - 6
M - 7 (told story just with better spices! worth watching)
Propably the german source, released a couple o weeks ago...
v 7 (nice quality but jumps outa sharpness for short periods)
a 8 (good sound)
m 8 (even though or because I haven't read the book)
Strange, for me cd2 looks to be lower video quality than cd1. I only skimmed through it but from what I watched on cd1, was sharp, clear and good color saturation on a tv. switched over to cd2 and it looked washed out and lacking the sharpness I saw with cd1, was softer/blurrier.
this is the typical telecine, dont expect a crank or everyone's hero one, but considering its only a month after its release in theatres i'll take this quality any day over the sea of blurry barely watchable TS's we've gotten.
in regards to the audio, its not bad but not great either. at the beginning I had a hard time hearing what people were saying as the mixing was poor, the crowd background noise almost completely drowned out the person talking.
video - 7(cd1) - 6(cd2)
audio - 6
movie - ? only watched the beginning and end, looks messed up, dont watch the beginning on a full stomach
Wow, I haven't watched the whole thing because I don't have time right now but what I saw from sampling both CD's looks awesome.
9/8/?
Video is crisp, with vibrant colors and aspect ratio seems good (overcropping, if any, was minimal). Only blemish I can find is a bit of extra grain in dark scenes and some oversaturation, but I'll take those flaws over a picture that's too dark or too bright.
Sound is very clear with little to no "white noise" in the background. A little hollow, but that's nitpicking.
Haven't seen the movie as stated earlier but I loved the book and the actor who plays Jean-Baptiste Grenouille looks just like what I'd imagined the character would look like when I read the novel. I'll save this for the weekend.
