Tony Hawk project 8

This is out in the stores today or tomorrow, I played the demo a few nights ago on the 360, I didn't want to try it because I figured it would be like the underground series, I was told that it's going back to it's roots from the first 2 games. I didn't belive it until I tried the demo.

I quite impressed with the demo, I am getting the full release of the game for my ps2 now.

I remember me and a buddy of mine used to compete with each other in Tony Hawk 1 and I won with the high score of over 300,000 in the wharehouse, He kicked my ass in thps2, he got like 1.5 million, I got 1.4 or so, NO cheating at all. after the second game they went downhill. I sooo can't wait to check out the new game. It looks pretty good, I have heard a few early reviews and i've been hearing that it's the best thps since thps2.

I'm hoping what I read is correct.

Have to agree with you.Tony Hawk 1 and 2 were great and after that they went shit.In regards to the Tony Hawk series most people prefered the third installment but I hated it.It felt totally wrong right away.I really hope they have got it right this time.

saw this on gamer tv last week, looks pretty nifty.

best new feature looks to be the "slow-motion-create-your-own-trick" thing. As you ollie, the camera zooms right in, and you control each leg with the 2 thumbsticks (in slow-mo), and can create your own tricks. Release the thumbsticks when the board is in the right place to land the trick.

Well the verdict is in and the outcome does not look good.

I played this game for a few hours yesterday, It seems like it might be OK, I have two levels unlocked, So far no good levels. I want something that I can enjoy, like the wharehouse, or the hanger no good boards like that yet. The 360 version plays better also.

I will give it another go and see how it is. I got my fingers crossed.

It got OK reviews for the 360 on gamespot. 7.9 out of 10.

Been playing this too and think its crap.
The first two were realistic and smooth flowing but I find the levels are just too crammed and tight now.It makes me kind of dizzy. So nope they still got it wring

Playing THPS1 and 2 now is a painful experience, they ramped up the speed a lot in THPS3 which to this day remains my favourite. It took a LOT more skill.

A lot of games are a painful experience when you go backand play them but I have always felt its about capturing a moment in time. From a gamers point of view thps3 might be the best but from a skaters point of view it just wasn't.The realism before was far superior.
When the first one came out EMB in San Fransisco was the top hot spot at that time and for skaters like myself it was just really cool to skate there.
That wasn't the only reason obviously but in my opinion skateboarding has always been about cruising around and when an obstacle comes in sight you can prepare yourself for your next trick.
When the 3rd game came out they cranked up the speed and made everything just so tight it was fucking rank man.
Sorry but when you know what skateboardings about then you'd understand where i am coming from.
I skated for ten years and always wanted to have a realistic skateboarding game. When Tony Hawk came out it was just so fresh and really hit it bang on.When the second one came along they just added enough touches to keep it real.
All they needed to do for future release was to add new skatespots from around the globe and make the areas bigger. Then it would have been fun finding new spots in that area to skate.
They shouldn't bring another one out every year either. There is only so far you can take a game and as we say in Scotland "you've taken that too far."

Incidentally this new thps game is FUN but the framerate is awful (apparently even worse on ps3)

the 2 best sports game ever on console!
but it would have been worth it to get the dreamcast versions (and a dreamcast also if you didnt have one)

they look beautiful even to this day (with shitty composite cables)

however the ps1 versions are very block/choppy

True, but was/am very partial to the ps1 versions because that is what I am used to playing. The first one has a bit of a frame rate issue, but I can handle it. I got a grand total of 65k last night, No wheres near what I used to be able to get which was 300k

I can't wait for her to get thps2 in the mail, I used to be able to get 1.4m on the hanger. without cheating. I was the shiznit.

Well my gf recieved THPS2 in the mail today, I used to be able to score 1.4 million without any cheats, I can't even get 200,000 now, I can barely get 186,000 I got that once.

The music in the first and this one both rock hard core though, Kick ass music. Bring the noise, Bring it bitch.
