Thumbs up Finally!

I was beginning to wonder when vcdq would finally post SOMETHING about this movie being avail. The dvd9 has been avail for over 2 weeks, as well as dvdrip xvids. I saw this about 2 weeks ago and I was stunned at the night and day difference between this version and the 'original', which in fact, is what this cut should have been. The fact that these scenes were what should have been shown and not some reshot crap is just mind-boggling. I love the scene at the White House where Zod grabs the gun and starts shooting people grinning like a madman. The ability to also insert new cgi effects also makes this not seem as outdated as the footage really is, nearly 30 years!!!

I had a tear in my eye when it opened with 'Dedicated to Christopher Reeve without whom we would never have believed a man could fly' and I was then treated to a fkn fantastic hour and a half plus of pure magic. I felt just like that kid again that watched Superman II in the eighties. For me this is the best DVD I have ever purchased and 'for this reason above all' it gets ten across the board.

Sound - 10
Flik - 10 JUST FKN MAGIC

Richard Donner really got screwed when Richard Lester took over the directing of Superman II and got full credit for the theatrical release. After 30 years Donner finally has the last word.

Near perfect rip. A couple of extra menu buttons should have been disabled but that's all.
