Maybe it would be smart.
If you did make a hardware forum for people like myself. I have another question though, my cousin needs to resolve a problem he's having with Windows Vista Beta (the actual disc). For some reason his computer crashed, saying something like, "Catastrophic error." I'm not sure if those were his/the exact words, but you get what I'm saying. Any thoughts as to why this happened and/or how to resolve it?

Do a repair install from the disk.
Why though, with the RTM having been out for more than a month is he still running Beta release?

He got a copy of it from his friend, who had happened to have several. So my genius cousin installed it without reading the disc (assuming it says BETA on it)?! He's losing his mind over the fact that his computer is not functional at the moment. Hahha. Dude sounded like he was going to cry, but anyways...I'm trying to save him money, he got a price check, and it's going to be $150 to fix.

<sigh> At least you are trying to look out for him. </sigh>
Like I said. Boot from the Cd, and it will give the option (NOT RECOVERY CONSOLE) to repair the detected existing installation.

Well if that disk is fucked, that might be why he is having those problems.
Do what ELJ says but use a WinXP disk. It would be better for your bro, or friend, or whoever.
See my point with the forum? It's a great idea I think.
::EDIT::isn't Vista coming out in a week or so?
My cousin tried doing the repair, but when he tried, it said, "Windows cannot repair, catastrophic error." He claims to have tried everything, any other solutions?!
