Top 10 Movies You Probably Haven't Seen | Post 1990

Suggest a great movie that is not popular and probably hasn't been seen by many others( which will be hard around here!) This gives great rental ideas!

1) I'm Not Scared ('Io non ho paura ') -- 2003
2) Amelie ('The Fabulous Destiny of Amelie Poulain') -- 2001
3) The Red Violin (Le Violon rouge) -- 1998
4) Battle Royale ('Batoru rowaiaru') -- 2000
5) Leon: The Professional -- 1994
6) Gattaca -- 1997
7) The Legend of 1900 -- 1998
8) The Hudsucker Proxy -- 2004
9) The Boondock Saints -- 1999
10) The Celebration ('Festen') -- 1998

11) The World's Fastest Indian -- 2005
12) Saint Ralph -- 2004

Seen and posses them all except The Red Violin (seen but don't have), Gattaca (seen, not a fan, therefore don't own), and Saint Ralph (haven't seen, don't own).

Oh and Amelie and Leon are two of the biggest grossing European movies ever, and Battle Royale one of the biggest grossing Japanese movies ever, all 3 rate highly on IMDB and other movie lists and rank highly on video rental lists...to say they're 'not popular'...

And this is about the 3rd or 4th thread on here with pretty much the same type of subject. Maybe hunt back for the cult movies thread and bump that one? It already had quite a few posts and lots of recommendations.

Ask 10 people that you aren't in film class with if they have seen ANY of these. I bet they bat 20-30%.

I've never been to any film class. Alot of the films on your list are not rarely seen and are actually quite popular.

This might be a european thing with Amelie and Leon though, they were pretty huge blockbusters here.

Yup seen Leon many times, as has pretty much everyone I know. Surprised EdwardNorton didn't add E.T or Titanic to his 'probably haven't seen' list.

I have seen all on his list except for The Red Violin and with a sypnosis like this "A red and perfect violin inspires passion, making its way through three centuries over several owners and countries, eventually ending up at an auction where it may find a new owner." I probably never will.

EdwardNortons still a leet movie fan though, don't hate on his bad self.

Good movies you've probably never seen? Er... I'd say some British Films like The Firm (link added so you don't get mixed up with the Tom Cruise tosh.), Going Off Big Time, Hard Men, McVicar, The Krays, Face, shit like that but if you're British you should have already seen them. Other than that, you 'probably haven't seen' some of my extra special porn.

edward admits the things on his list probably wont stump be unknown to the kids at vcd quality. but i'd say show his list to people who's histroy/interest in films mostly comes via the top five movies of the weekend box office list that in the states get reported as much as sports scores...

and edwards list will baffle most. being in film class especially with the internet isn't need to have seen or at least know of the things on ed's list..

hell the net really isn't needed either just access/interest in reading film books/film magazines.....

and i have no idea what 'indie' film you can see on cable tv. hmm did cable ever help convert anyone to an interest in this sort of stuff ?????

What a good critic you would make juding a film by its synopsis. Anyone reading your blind judment on "The Red Violin" is laughing at your ignorance. I don't pay much attention though, I stopped reading your posts after you named "Mystery Men" as a top 5 comedy of ALL TIME.

From only the plot outline would you truly want to see this movie,
"A computer hacker learns from mysterious rebels about the true nature of his reality and his role in the war against the controllers of it?"

Hint: It's in your top 5 of all time.

Sounds pretty good, sounds like The Matrix.

To be cliche', don't judge a film by its cover. Watch it, then you may be able to add some substance to your agrument. Frankly I had no desire to watch 10-20 of my favorite movies.

ps. I am going to ignore the paragraph you wrote above dealing with 'The Blue Violin." Reading that rubbish would lower my IQ.

Yeah, I agree, Most comedies aren't that good, There made to make us laugh.

Yeah EN most of the films you mentioned I have at least heard of, Not all of them though.

To answer the first post

Not sure how popular these movies are.

1. Poolhall Junkies: Chaz Palmentari is in it. and is actually quite good, If you understand what a hustler is, If you understand the game you should be able to appreciate it. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0273982/

I found this movie by mistake and got it from netflix, this movie rocks, 2 hot chicks. Really good movie.

5. Bat sei ching mai (Bullets of Love): Very decent film.

There are many more I can think of. This is just some I have watched withen the year.
