-- my first ever bluescreen of death (http://www.vcdhq.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=75081)
my first ever bluescreen of death
my pc was on for approximately 2 months without a hitch, when all of a sudden a blue screen came up with a load of text on it, but unfortuneatly it only stayed for maybe 1 second so i didnt get chance to read it.
after that, the screen went black and in the top left it just said "PRESS A KEY TO REBOOT"
so i reboot and after drive detection but before windows boots i just get the same prompt to reboot.
i turned it off for a few mins.
turned it back on and it boots fine, stays loaded for maybe 10 mins and does the same thing again.
i thought it was a dodgy o/s drive for a start so i unplugged it and swapped it for a new disc but had the same problem when booting.
then i unplugged the hard drive controller which runs all my storage discs...
since then its been running for about 5 days again with no hitch...
unfortuneatly i dont have much money so i cant go about replacing everything until i find what the culprit was
whats fucked? do you think its the controller?
suggestions appreciated
it has to be the controller or some other piece of software/hardware that has lower kernel access. windows will not come up with a black screen that says press any key to reboot if it has a BSOD while running. whatever generated that error message is the culprit.
get a new card, or check the cabling, or check the drives.
