The turtles are back, so how do they compare to the original movies?

No, us older fans weren't treated to the turtles we wanted, no boozing, no swearing, no gore, this flick was definitely geared towards the younger crowd, but that hardly makes it 'bad.'

I'll start with the negative points of the movie:

Splinters voice, I really hated the voice actor they got for him, was most disappointing to me.

The people in the movie look straight out of the incredibles while everything was slightly more 'real.'

The story was all over the place, just a lot going on (I was glad for this, but I can see why it would annoy some.

The positive points:

The turtles ARE back! and are exceptionally nice to look at this time around. I loved the CG of this movie minus the real people. Both the scenery and turtles look great and can be more like the cartoons/comics in flexability then in the previous movies.

The BEST one on one fight in the history of the TMNT movies. It's hard not to give spoilers of it, but I will just say that it is the closest one of the turtles gets to going 'psycho' and it's amazing. The only thing is I wish it was longer, I could of watched that for half an hour by itself.

The comic relief, are the jokes cheesy? absolutely, were they ever not? my point exactly, and it's still great.

---------------------------------------

Overview:

Some things are different, but I'm welcoming the change. I hope there is another entire trilogy of CG TMNT movies if they can keep up with this one, it was a delight to watch, while leaving only a little room for improvement. Am I a hardcore TMNT fanboy? Yes. But keep in mind that I went into this movie full of doubts because of that, I expected to leave the theater thinking they ruined some of my favorite movies from my childhood (basically, like the third TMNT movie) and left very happy and already wanting more

I'm willing to overlook the occasional super-cheese moment for a great flick like this, any real turtles fan should go see it, you won't be disappointed.

Final Score: 8.5/10

well, i am somewhat offput by the trailers... up to the release i kept hearing and reading that he was going to keep it true to the comics, eastman and laird style, and i was excited.

for me, being a tmnt fanboy means the original comics, in black and white. even though the covers were in color, they all wore red bandanas... the tales of the tmnt were hot as well, no pizza, no cowabunga, nothing assinine like that, with the exception of anything casey jones ever said ("goongala goongala!")....

so while if the movies are your original source, sure its not too far out of whack, but when the turtles killed without mercy, swore, and baxter stockman was black (and april was an intern for him, not a news reporter)... those were the turtles.

having said all of that, i grabbed a copy, and will watch it, hoping that i'm wrong.

I absolutely loved this movie. The look, the action, and the "drama".

Definitely worth a look.
