Dumb Friend didnt activate his OS
A dumb friend of mine, not me I swear, installed the home edition of a popular operating system. He has been using it for 30 days without activating it, he doesn't want me to format and reinstall it the proper way.
Any advice by PM would be greatfully accepted.
if your friend wants to avoid a full reinstall, his best bet is to do an xp pro vlm overlay, pretty much install right over top of his current system. this will cause errors, but its about 90% effective, he'll keep his docs and program files, everything will be installed still, but there may be driver conflicts, some programs that dont transfer to the registry correctly, things like that.

Read zoidys comment for clarification.
I found a really good way to help him out. It wasn't too complicated and it works perfectly.
All he has to do is disconnect all the leads from his computer, put the tower in a box, put that box in his attic and just leave it there.
What a pillock, he calls me late at night expecting me to solve his problem in a instant, does anyone else get that from their brainless friends?
