Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon (2006)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0437857/

Just watched this today, quite possibly the best "B-Horror" movie I've seen in a *Long* time.

I'm going to steal my review from the person that told me about it, cause I agree with nearly all of what they had to say.

quote:

glossorman (director+writer) has a genious idea: find out what the behind-the-scenes-life of a serial slasher such as vorhees, myers and kruger is like.

what makes this movie great fun:
* for the most part the movie plays as a "mock-umentary" that looks at the life of a serial slasher in the making: leslie vernon. it makes fun BUT also pays respect to slasher movies.

* it doesnt take itself seriously. when u have a movie with wicked/propesterous idea it's a mistake to take it so seriously.

* packed with funny, smart and witty lines especillay when addressing the sybmolisms in slasher movies .

* its not confined to the documentary style but has a nice twists.

* independept and low budget but not low quality cinematography.

this movie is great FUN not a great movie. given its low budget independent status means that it's not without imperfections so dont watch it with high expectations. it's especially recommended for fans of horror/slasher flicks.

good review, shall give this a go sunday evening!

agree with the lack of decent horrors comment, start making decent ones you shit helmets!

the best ones ive watched recently are Plane Dead (great b movie flick) and The Abandoned (pretty fucking spooky, if not a bit confusing)

Alright just got through watching this and thought it was a pretty decent movie ,
the actor who played Leslie Vernon was pretty good , he portrayed the spooky and wierd persona well.

Its not a movie that will change your life but it is worth a watch.

Love it so far. Whats that Blonde bitch out of ?

I remember her in a movie where she is pretending to cry on the phone to someone. She gets caught out when putting them on hold.

I downloaded this, kept putting it off, cause from the sample, it just looked like another cheesey shot on video "horror" film.

Then one day over at bloody-disgusting.com one of their staff members down right verbally assaulted me for not watching the film. So, seeing as those dudes generally know their horrors, i fired it up tonight.

Wow. Definately not another "andre the butcher" or any of those other horrible STV horrors. This was actually something different.

Sure it kinda has the same premise as "Man Bites Dog" but it definately survives on its own.

I loved how they implemented horror icons like jason, freddy, and myers. Set in sort of an alternate reality where these famous slashers are a reality.

Robert Englund making an appearance as a "Dr. Loomis" character was completely awesome. I wish he was in more movies today.

I gave this one 8/10. If you're into horror at all, give this one a go. I'll be showing this one to my buddies this weekend.
