NFO is wrong on this. Says English DD 5.1. This movie is in Mayan, as it was in the theaters. So if you think they some how dubbed over the Mayan you are wrong. Check sample and you will see.

Mayan, with English subtitles, as shown in theaters.

Interlaced, and quite obviously so. Looks more like a TV programme than a movie.

Won't be nuked though coz it's Replica and they can do no wrong

Posted by Jc100 on 05-04-2007 07:04 AM:

It is NOT interlaced. it's progressive. However movie is in Mayan NOT English. Once again, that is how it appeared in cinemas....

its right only directors comments are in english, the films is subbed like it should be, thanks replica

Three out of every five still frames is blurred, which means the 2:3 pulldown sequence is still present, which means it is interlaced. That and it looks like shit whenever there is fast motion. DGIndex also reports wrong field sequence.

You are wrong my friend..

Well according to dvd2avi.. its progressive.. I could be wrong.. but hey it says it is....

There is a DVD9 out, I'd suggest getting that instead. Especially for a movie of 138 min.

They've combined the wrong video fields to create a quasi-progressive signal. Each video frame combines lines from two successive movie frames so that when there is movement between the frames, the picture is blurred. It's called "bad inverse telecine" and if this was any group but Replica it would be nuked already. The effect was obvious from the opening scene so I hit the still-frame button on my standalone and stepped through the frames one at a time. The sequence is clear, clear, blurred, blurred, blurred, clear clear, blurred, blurred, blurred. If you're watching on a PC or any kind of progressive display device you won't be able to judge the original picture quality.

I've got the DVD9 and made a quickie DVD5 from it using a 1-click app. The picture is still better than this. Motion is much more natural. Froze the frame and used still-step button as before. No 2-clear/3-blurred frame sequence this time. Will make a proper DVD5 later with 10-pass CCE when I've got time.

You may be right, but it looks clear and fine on my system, with progressive DVD player, component connection and plays w/s 480p on the TV. No blurriness except where it is supposed to be (trees and leaves blur as people run by in focus)

Sound good enough for 5.1 (It had DTS, but it wasn't used)

Movie was better than I expected...

9/9/7
