printer help

basically my printer namely a epson c84 stopped printing
it went from perfect to stop

so i contacted epson who informed me it has come to the end of its service life , the software tells it to stop!! ffs

basically iv raped the fuk out of it with £1 cartridges BUT it still works/ed perfectly

iv been told its possible to overide it but cant find how !!!!

do any of uber techie guys have a solution !!

From what I understand (although it's a few years since I worked for Epson) the Status Monitor warns you that the parts have reached the end of their "service life" but shouldn't stop printing... Hell, is it even legal for software to tell the printer to "die" after a specified period - I doubt it! Read the manual, is it mentioned in there?

no iv spoke to customer service they told me the software shuts it down

and i have to take it to them for a service @ £40

the printer didnt cost that but iv got like £100 worth of ink and i cant get one anywhere !!

Welcome to the world of printers!

Here in the usa, they give you a free lexmark or hp with purchase of a combo meal at mcdonalds.. They pretty much lose money on printer sales but make up for it by price gouging you on the ink. They basically stole the idea from the video game console world. Consoles sold at a loss, make up for it by marking up video games.

So wait, epson told you that their printers have a expiration date? Man, thats worse then buying a gallon of milk. Those people in the printer world are corrupt, i swear. Imagine they put that warning on the front of the box that says: "You can buy this printer, but you can only use it for a certain amount of time". Id imagine they wouldnt sell too many if that were the case.

But yeah, printers that expire, expensive ink. Printers are stupid. Just use pdf/word and a pendrive..pendrives come free with purchase of a 7-11 large soda. If you need something printed, go to kinkos, they'll charge you 3 cents a copy.

Or buy a laser printer... Expensive at first and the carts are pricey but you'll get 100,000 prints out of the fuckers
