pc freezes

my pc always seems to freeze when im encoding from xvid to dvd
ive took the side off my pc to see if its overheating and its ok.

Decidedly not enough to compute. If you want me to answer without knowing what machine you are running, how many processes you have going, and the like, then here:

In probable order of importance:

1. Memory (severe lack of, or too many processes running at start up eating what you do have up.)
2. software corruption (bad Dll's, corrupted winders, etc..)
3. other hardware failure (video card, CPU, memory, hard disk, etc..)

If you want a more specific answer, then give more info on your system and what is going on.

You say it freezes yet you check for overheating... These things are mutually exclusive, my head hertz!
