what pop-ups?

try adblock.........works for me

Posted by Asterisk on 07-13-2007 03:07 PM:

Ha i miss you too doctor zoidy.

SystemDoctor ad appears to have been removed now. Thanks.

Never had any probs with any other pop ups before. Yes I do have an ad blocker installed, just kept getting that one on vcdq with the 'Scan your computer now!' dialogue box and site redirection everytime i clicked on the DVDR link.

The people on here that know what I mean probably can't be arsed coming onto the forums to say anything because they're p*@#!d off with the pop up showing up and closing their vcdq window all the time.

I have been using Firefox with Adblock Plus for months and NEVER had any trouble

Posted by nodus on 07-14-2007 12:24 AM:

Asterisk is right

for a week or so now I haven't been able to see the DVDR page as pcturbopro is hijacking the page - can't even get back to the home page without shutting the browser & starting again

not tried adblocker so will give that a go but NEVER had this problem before on any site

only came back here to see if it was fixed yet - it isn't

using Firefox 2.0.0.4

oh & to the other ppl replying just because *you're* alright doesn't mean it isn't happening............

ok adblock plus seems to have cured it so thanks for suggesting it

mind you the site admin won't be too pleased if no-one sees any of the ads?

no ads = no revenue presumably?

I replied because it happened to me and I fixed it straight away.

No-one was denying the fact that it was happening, just not to me/them cause we fixed it.

comprende?

can somebody quickly run through how to set the ad-blocker thing to stop this - I have it but don't know how to config it to stop the systemdoctor messages...

Posted by LOLobo on 07-18-2007 02:47 PM:

Firefox + NoScript Addon + AdBlockPlus Addon

Might be overkill, but it has worked for me.

Is it Adblock you have or Adblock Plus? If its plain Adblock then you'll have to get g's filterset and load it in. Adblock Plus on the other hand asks you what filterlist you want to subscribe to when you first run it.

loLobo closed my thread http://forum.vcdq.com/showthread.php?threadid=78397 and sent me here, but this is a totally different problem, some of you guys are complaining about pop-ups which I do not have and I do not have install any pop-ad blocker except for the one coming standard with Firefox, however my situation is equally annoying.

Firefox crashes with an “Illegal Operation Caused by the Plugin”. referring to the Flash Plugin. Apparently the Ad is trying to write to a protected memory area.

The add in question is coming from ad.yieldmanager.com and it is to be displayed on any of the flash banners located on the top, side and bottom of the main table.

This started four days ago and it is annoying since I have to restart Firefox each time and this happens and it could happen while navigating on the site or when a rotation of the add is due.

Let me point out that it seems to be (at least) one add in particular because some other adds displayed in the same position work fine.

Now this add is either:
Trying to installed something on our PC .
It is just trying to keep you away of this site.
It was poorly designed.

I go for the first option although the second is not too far fetched it would not be something unheard of.

To the guys in charge of the site, please look at it

THIS is only happening in your website and I am not the only one with this problem.

If you need more info, please contact me.
Thanks

Adblock Plus

And for the record, I have never had a problem with Firefox and ads on this site, with or without Adblock.

Adblock Plus makes the whole internets better

Hell this site is one that I've never had a pop up problem with. Granted I run pop up blocker proggy but some other sites can be very persistent. VCDQ doesn't seem to have that problem.

Yup... Firefox + Adblock Plus + *.yieldmanager.* added to ABP's filters and you're sorted.

I understand your woes Kalas but we don't choose the ads.

Because I'm feeling super-nice, here is my ad-splatter list for ABP. Save it as a text file and import the cunt into ABP

code:
[Adblock] *.anc.* *.budsinc.com/* *.adbrite.com/* *.googlesyndication.* *.interclick.* *.doubleclick.* *.adrevolver.* *.cpaclicks.* *.clicksor.* *.adtology.* *.auctionads.* *.yieldmanager.* *.layer-ads.* *.zanox.* *.free-porn-passes.* *.etology.* *.cpxinteractive.* *.assoc-amazon.* *.projectwonderful.*

They're not ALL advertising companies, some are common popups that also annoy the fuck out of me

VCDQ Ads: Why your ad service should be shot in the face

So recently while browsing at home, randomly vcdq will make my firefox error out and quit...illegal operation.

No biggie, my home system is rather cluttered and needs a reinstall anyways, I figured it was me.

SO...that was 2 weeks ago.

Im at my cousins house now, and once again, on his firefox, random ads will crash it. I think you guys should fix it, I think its something to do with one of the ads in your rotation (cant tell ya which..since it crashes my shit just as it loads!)

I hope im not duping by this thread...but pull up ya pants and fix that. Everyone <3's FF. And dont tell me to use opera, I switched to it for a week, what a crap browser.
