VLC Player & Vista
I know this has been discussed at length in the past but I cannot find the thread for it. I searched too.
I nearly never got VLC to even play on Vista Ultimate, and for any that may still have this issue ( go to Settings>Preferences>Output Modules>Select Advanced Options> Click the drop down and Select Windows GDI video output ) or at least that is what worked for me.
So, here is my real question/s. Why won't VLC preview rar files on Vista like it did for me when I ran XP?
Or..
What setting do I need to change to make this option work for me?
Help ole' Pickles out fellows.
I've never heard of VLC opening RAR files (not saying it can't, I've just never heard of it) but I'm also on Vista Ultimate and it doesn't work.
Btw, I have used VLC for the past couple years, but recently made the switch over to GOM player: http://www.gomplayer.com/main.html
It's got everything VLC does (Although probably not as good video support without codecs, although so far for me it hasn't been a problem). Most importantly, it can actually seek properly! VLC's seeking was the thing that irritated me the most.
When I was big on watching S/VCD I fell in love with VLC being able to play movies out of multiple rars even while in bin/cue. From what I have heard its the minor tweaks o the file system that Vista has (a semi silent upgrade). Windows tends to view rars/zips almsot like a folder where vista treats it as a file.
I could be 100% wrong because I have only read a few peoples remarks about this problem and I dont use Vista.
