FINALLY.

the PUKKA original rls was quite good for a ts but this is sharper and more watchable overall. prolly best we gonna see b4 an r5 which could be months away still

saw some ppl commenting about crop but ppl are stupid looks fine to me

V:7
A:8
M:7.5 surprisingly not completely shit

Posted by TheGRiM on 09-20-2007 12:34 AM:

Seems to be a lower quality TC or a good TS.

v: 7/8
a:7

::ModEdit: No Linking to samples::

Video is really good, looks like R5 to me. I think the audio is CAM audio as its very echoy and sometimes crackles.

also I think its out of sync slightly.

V - 8
A - 6
M - ?

Posted by Vampire on 09-20-2007 02:12 AM:

Video is OK, not brilliant for a TC. The audio isn't good - as mentioned, it sounds quite hollow (still clear though) so I'm not sure if this is just a bad job or they're lying about the source.

Based on sample...

Video: 7
Audio: 6
Movie: ? (yet to watch)

I'd given up waiting for a better copy so ended up watching the PUKKA TS the other day & now this turns up! lol

Only had a chance for a quick skim through...

v-7.
Definitely not R5 as someone mentioned, either a good TS or slightly substandard TC. Still, nice colours, quite sharp & clear.

a-6.
A bit empty & crackly in places. On quick skim through, sync seems OK.

m-8.
Really enjoyed this flick, good work Pixar!

DVD is due out beginning of November i think, so until that or R5, this is your best bet.

Video isn't good for a Telecine. Not clear at all, and very dark. Many of the dark scenes are blocky and unfocused. Audio is low and hollow. Many imperfections. The credits look like the "oil painting" release of the Ant Bully. (if you remember that old release)

The best out right now, but not an R5 as some are claiming, and possibly not even a TC. I've certainly seen better TS than this, so who knows.

V - 5 (as a TC)
A - 5
M - 5 It stunk like old cheese

The reason they're commenting on a crop is that the film is supposed to be scope with an AR of 2.35:1, and just like with their harry potter "telecine" MVS has managed to crop out almost 1/4 of the image.

Slight blur and poor audio.

6/4/8

Please stop referring Telecine as having anythiong to do with VIDEO, its audio only....Morons

ummm.... WHAT? video is what distinguishes between cam and direct copy (TC)... do you realise what you even typed?

this looks poor as a tc from the 1st 5 minutes, some TS's are far superior

The audio is fine enough

as a TC (tele 'CINE')

6/8/?

That comment is as good as the Telecine video on this release from mVs.

Pic- rated as telecine 6ish - Seen way way better
Sound - 7ish - Not to bad in current climate. Bit of hum and a crackle and pop occasionally
Flik - 6ish - Not bad at all

Probably a Telesync.

many mixed messages here,
I've burned to dvd using vso's convertx to blah blah blah
and on a little 28 - 32 inch TV with 2 channel sterio its absolutely fine both image and audio.

but, put it on anything bigger than a 42 inch plasma and yes does get blocky in the dark scenes with slight blur. Audio still desent.

either way if its for the kids then you wont waste your bandwidth but if your projecting on a wall to impress some japanese executives into buying your bootleg business, then forget it cause it wont impress.

video slighty grainy & dark in places
audio hollow & crackley

V/7

A/7

A little oc, but not that noticable.
I got excellent results with Lanczos on ffdshow - filters most of the blur.

7.5/6/5 - I can't believe this thing scored 8.4 on imdb...

Posted by shadowsniper on 09-20-2007 05:45 PM:

Just had another chance to look through this in a bit more depth...

Is that slight camera shaking towards the middle of the film? Particularly around the 49.20 mark. I could be wrong but it looks a bit wobbly to me. The Pixar splash screen at the beginning looks to be on a slight angle too?

The Russian text at the start of the short film at the beginning as well.... hmm.... could be a Russian TC job, i dunno, plus what definitely sounds like line audio. All the evidence seems to point to TS in my opinion.

Posted by newdad23 on 09-21-2007 12:20 AM:

Do you people even know what the dfference between a TC and TS are? I'm so sick and tired of people saying, "It's ether a really good TS or a bad TC" Please stop it! TS is direct audio with camera video quality. This is no cam. It's in russian so I'm betting on a crappy R5. But I'll will make my votes on a TC.

V- 8.5
A-7
M-10

Please read and find out about the difference before the ignorence kicks in
