nuking

hello i couldn't find the answer to this in any pinned topic. how and maybe who decides when a movie etc is nuked? sorry if this was obviously answered elsewhere.

Well first of all it's not anyone here. As far as I can tell it's effectively the so-called "top site" server owners. They provide the bandwidth which enables a rip to be distributed more widely. There is a list of rules drawn up by a loose association of ripping groups but these are more general guidelines than set in stone. If a particular rip breaks these rules and is considered a waste of bandwidth it will be nuked. It is still up to individual server owners whether they actually "nuke" (ie: "remove") a release from their particular server or not.

Not all sure who decides but then again some non nuked files are shit at times and nuked files are excellent for dvd or avi viewing.......my take on it is there is a set of rules ...they are very stringent on what pass's or fails.....and as u can already grasp its not always about quality.......sometimes its about rules.....lets just d/l transformers by flaite.....its very much poor quality but somehow pass's being nuked if it does get a nuke perhaps another group would proper it.....but alas this is vcdquality.com not commonsense.com hope this helps

well thanks for your responses. i think there should be a way for us users to rate then maybe nuke a file. for example if x number of people say that there are audio sync issues or bad blocky picture or whatever. then the file could be user nuked or another term to let us all know the info we need.

Why is everyone shitting on the flaite transformers release? I don't see anything wrong with the thing!

Too complicated. Just read the release comments if you want to know if something is worth watching. Sometimes you need to wait a few days so that releases have been fully watched and are not missing shit, or have some other weird shit happening.

Until a release is officially nuked by the release scene, it remains on the servers and no rival group is allowed to upload an alternative version. A perfect example is Replica's "Perfume: The Story of a Murderer". This was universally slated as being a "lemon", but because Replica is such a popular group, nobody dared nuke it. If you want a decent widescreen version of that particular title you have to find an unofficial release and we're not allowed to discuss it here.

well again thanks for the responses. i think you are all right and maybe if more people posted comments on quality then we could all be informed. just saying 'thanks' doesn't tell any one much.also more info from the uploaders maybe. some give little or no info about their releases.

That is the benefit of coming here. Since we don't host (and don't want to host) any files relating to releases, people don't come here to grab a release, but to comment and read comments. There are no uploaders here (thank god), only updaters when something is released. And merely saying "Thanks" in our release comment forums results in the deleting of those posts by our friendly staff.
