V 8.5 - Rated in total (movie + extras). This DVD-R rip is a good example of how to keep the GOOD stuff and strip the garbage. All neat extras are kept while feature quality is still excellent. Esp. the short animation flick and the rat history film are almost part of the movie
A 10
M 9.5 - If you like Pixar animation you'll just love it

Except for 1 highlightable stripped extra (and audio track), this release is a perfect rip.

Well most groups would love to keep the extras but it hurts the byte rate. Reason you see animation movies on tv's in the store is because of the contrast and colors. I dont mind the extras being stripped. If you want it all, buy or download the dvd9. And burn to a dual layer.

Audio defaulted to the stripped audio track on my Oppo981, also took a good 20 seconds to boot when disc first loaded in player. Apart from that a superb release especially since it started here in the UK on Friday

Pic 9.5 Superb upscalled.
Sound 10 Superb on surround.
Flik 8 Great entertainment for adults and kids alike.

Thanx THP.

From sample:

V:9
A:10
M:7

I would have prefered untouched video (if possible) rather than extras, but it still looks very good.

Movie was pretty fun and very well made.

EDIT: didn't default to stripped audio for me. Took a few secs to start though.

Looking good, marking down the video for obvious extras, but atleast they kept the good ones

V - 9
A - 9.5
M - 8 (actually very good and very funny!)

Not burnt it yet so not sure about any problems with audio streams, but worked fine through Windows Media Classic

DEFINATELY needs a fix, spent 10 mins before i realised what the prob was, ie: defaulting to non-existent audio. (you need to go to setup on menu and select 5.1 in case anyone else is having same prob). Also takes an age for the DVD player to start the disc, at least 20 secs. Shame 'cos its an otherwise perfect rip.

V 10
A 10 (once I found it)
M 7

Had the same prob with audio so ran through dvd shrink and took the stripped audio out.

Yup, same here on my Philips DVP 642. Once I hit the audio button on the remote, the sound was great. Also took a while for it to load as well. This is like the 3rd release (not sure if by this group) where the DVDs are taking a bit to load in.. I haven't looked at the files, but I'm assuming their attempting to load removed content/previews before finally getting to the menu.

Anyway, once I hit the AUDIO button on the remote, all was well.

First DVDR grabbed by me in a while, and i have to fix parts of it, my lazy new lifestyle does not approve.

Anyways, the errors aren't the end of the world, anyone with even a wee bit of knowledge or even certain one click app's should be able to sort this.

Video is good on this though, even upscaled to 1080I, obviously nowhere near HD, but upscaling is a good indication of how well the encode has went.

Audio is up to the usual high standard of Pixar movies.

Movie, not watched all of it yet, but from what I've saw looks rather good.

9/9/?

Posted by Extractor on 10-17-2007 01:51 PM:

looks like there are some ppf fixes available that fix those minor issues.

The reason why the disc takes a while to load is because the links from 'Fist Play' to the Main Menu still all exist. Disney DVDs are packed with a lot of useless trailers and logos and stuff before you get to the menu. As this content has been removed (thanks god) you're being linked from one black screen to another. On some standalones this takes a short while but is nothing to worry about. Although it'd also be possible to remove the links themselves so the disc would load faster, there'd always be some risk that the menu could fuck up at some point (esp. disney dvd menus are quite 'fragile' to manipulations as they pass along a lot of information via general system parameters). So keeping the links but removing the content is the safer option.

Brilliant release, sorted the 2 problems out with 1 programme,
it nows jumps straight to menu and when press play at the menu the 5.1audio comes on without the messing with the audio setup

audio 10

Ratatouille PPF FIX DVDR-ThP

thats out, but it seems to just stall on the patching so I would hold out for a 2nd Fix which will stop the audio bug
