day on fire
Really want to watch this movie, but r 46 is corrupt, how do I fix it?
::ModEdit: Moved here and stuff::
there are a number of ways but the quickest work around with out having to search the net for the complete rar is too..
delete r.46
copy and paste r.45 so that you have r.45 + copy of r.45 in the list of rars.
now rename "copy of r.45" to r.46, making sure that it has the same string as all the other rar files.
this will now extract but the downside is that you get a duplicate scene in the movie - usually its only for a brief moment.
thats a ridiculous suggestion.
go and re-download r46 from another source. itll only be on 1 site that its broken, find another site.
Absurd suggestion from motaba. You can re download r.46 on its own from certain places or certain apps...I'd tell you how but I think I might get hammered by the mods for it?
Thanks for all the suggestions, dummy me forgot to download the whole rar, thats why it wasnt working, someone had disconnected my NOMP before it finished
thanks for the reply's

Always check the archive with an SFV checker anyway but a better suggestion to Motaba's, if you ever do have the problem that you simply CAN'T get another copy of the corrupt rar is to double-click it to open it in Winrar then extract with the "keep broken files" box ticked... At least that way it extracts as much of the screwed data as it possibly can instead of replacing the entire chunk with copied data from another rar. If you're lucky it would only be a few bytes out so the resulting "glitch" is barely noticeable.
Motaba, you might want to read the above as well

FUCK ME !!!
give a little suggestion and its "lube motaba up and aim for penetration !"
I'd just like to say that none of you other bright sparks (other than neversoft) actually gave a decent fucking answer, and as i clearly stated, "the quickest work around without having to search the net " it merely gets you out of a tight spot in a hurry.
as for "keep broken files" even with that ticked sometimes winrar
still tells me to fuck off.
without further adieu, I tip my hat, nod to the ladies, let off a roaring great fart, and slowly exit the room.

after that, open with vlc and it will repair the broken avi.
i know this sounds stupid, but why can't you just make a copy of r.45, rename to r.46 and run quickpar? did the rars not come with pars?
^Speaking from personal experience I reckon that's optimistic at best. I realise that pars *should* be able to fix a corrupt file but has anybody actually ever fucking managed it? I nearly always end up re-downloading the shitting file.

Yeah, all the time - I'm with Giganews but still get one or two bad files out of every 10 downloads and use pars to successfully repair. I've even tested deleting an entire file and using pars to recreate.

the only time ive had problems with pars are when there arent enough due to fucked completions on usenet...ive repaired more than one missing rar at times with no noticeable gaps

I'm not too familiar with Pars, blocks and how they work so I'll accept what you're saying... It DID say something about not enough blocks or similar in QuickPAR. My point remains though... Pars have let me down more often than they have worked.

also if you dont have enough pars...go back to the incomplete rar and join sections then dl....this will give you a few more blocks ...usually enough to finish the set
