Phillips P-642

ok, so i got this player for AVIs mostly, and up until now its been awesome. my problem is the all of a sudden ive got lines going down the screen. it looks like the individual squares that make up the picture are visible, so its more like the picture is spliced than has lines.

i know i prolly need to just buy another one, but i wanted to see if any of my fellow nerd/geeks had a good idea.

Buy a new one and return this one in the new packaging and get your money back.

I have the same player... no issues.

yes...this works every time...go to some strip mall....hit that store first....go about your day through the other stores then go back and return it....say you brought it home and it was fucked....the only thing they care about is if the remote is still in the box

That's why I hated that dvd player. I had 2 of em, One still works great, the other has lines going through it, Reminds me of an old tv and the tube is going out, and it gets lines through it. Either live with it or trash it.

The blocks Johnlimo is right about it, That can be resolved for the most part, Do yourself a different player. Look through here and look at the one Elj and myself got, Not one problem with it.

totally worked. i found another phillips - DVP5960 that does 1080i upscaling, direct usb and supports hdmi. looks like they worked out most of the bugs with the divx issues (at least that's what the ppl who bought one say).

yeah i will prolly upgrade, but not yet.

thanks again for your help john.
