Very well encoded, and a fantastic copy.

v:9 - AR aside, the video is top notch.
a:9 - also solid
m:8.5. Brilliant ending, which you are either going to love or hate. Anyway, good take on a 'modern' western.

Kudos to BaLD for a great rip!

Welllll, I found this on <snip> a day before 'BaLD' put out their release and the one I found was 1/1.4GB file with no group name or nfo or anything included. Looks like BaLD took this anon source and, prob fixed it for stand-alone players, and released it. However this one does look sick on my average 26" LCD (TV). improved A/R makes the desert shots so much nicer and with no blurred counters and great color and clarity, def the one to grab for anyone who was still waiting for a slightly better video.

V: 9/9 (my eyes are getting used to all this bluray and hi-def shit)

A: 8/10

Movie: 9 imho

Put me in the "hate the ending" group. The artsy fartsy types may think it was brilliant but it was not a satisfactory ending for the rest of us.
V: 8
A:8
M:3 (it would have been an 8.5 with a decent ending)

Posted by OSH on 01-03-2008 12:30 AM:

Major improvement over the last release. Not that anything was really wrong with the previous release, but this one is better quality. I don't see anything wrong with the AR. The video quality is outstanding, this is a fantastic release. Thank you once again, BaLD.

A-9.5

AWESOME

for a pre-release

10 = My fave film of the year.

Javier Bardem is easily, I hope, gonna win an oscar this year. That is if there is any justice. What a role, played by a wonderful actor.

"The Rest of us" = Run of the mill ending. This film goes against the grain, and if you bothered to follow what had gone on previously, you would of understood the ending.

Please be kind when giving a film a score. This film will be considered a classic in years to come.

Get onto the scene at the garage with the attendant,(Coin flip). Check out the fan belts (Time to hang?) and the Smiley faces (Time to live?).

What a fucking film!!!

"Run of the mill ending" = You don't feel like you wasted 2 hours of your life when the movie ends. I understood the ending--and it STILL sucked.

My guess is the Coen brothers didn't want a duplicate of their most successful movie "Fargo" by having another back-woods law officer outsmart the bad guys.

I'm going to grab a copy of this new release and replace the ending with the the final 2 minutes from "The Fugitive", where Tommy Lee Jones puts Harrison Ford in the police car. It will probably make more sense that way...and couldn't possibly be any worse. LOL

looks good to me... better late than never

v 9
a 8
m ?

this film was shot in Super 35 format, i reckon that is what is accounting for the disparity in aspect ratio (or screen size shown) between this release and the previous Done release...

Is this even needed? I don't understand the purpose of this proper, other then the credits..
No.Country.For.Old.Men.DIRFIX.PROPER.READNFO.DVDScr.XViD-BaLD

from sample:

Not at all, no!

Ive watched it again since then and I still stand bv what I said. The whole tone of the film suggests that it shouldnt end all Gung-Ho. Sometimes cops win, sometimes criminal win. In this case, it felt right that no one should win (Except the Mexicans).

My whole point about the previous comment by 'Duckfan' was, how could he give it a high rating 1 second before the film finished, and then suddenly drop it right down. You either like the whole thing for what it is, or you dont. Simple as that really.

According to IMDB the movie was shot in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio. This release is cropped to 16:9. It means that almost 25% of the screen is missing...

Posted by SultrySalesma on 01-03-2008 11:08 AM:

Kudos to Bald for another fine release. Seems like a decent group to look foward to

V: 9
A: 8
M: 10 - Film of the year. The ending of the film speaks volumes for our society. It's open ended because this is the way the world is.

John Mclane and Chuck Norris don't exist - but people like Anton Chiguhr do.

Nice release.

Posted by SeeDee_MKII on 01-03-2008 02:10 PM:

v = 9.5 would of been 10 if i believed in perfection

v = 9

m = 9 cant beat a film tht goes against the rules.

BaLD for me are the best group to arrive on the scene for a long time imho. they confrmed that for me with that proper.dirfix.readnfo they did. Diplomatic towards Done and took effort of explining the reason. Top dollar group.

All hail bald.

keep it short and simple:

V-9
A-9
M-10 - One of the best films of the year. Its either this film or American Gangster for the top 2 films of 2007 hands down....
