Watched some of this playing the img file through vnc...

Video is excellent 9

Audio is ok except for the sync issues that I saw go in and out... but I do not know if this is because of playing the image file through vnc have not played it on stand alone player yet.

movie I love rambo (have not watched whole movie yet)

NFO says video is untouched and PowerDVD picks the audio track up as a DD 5.1!!

So what more can we complain about?

No menu???

Go Johnny!

nfo doesn't say if audio is AC3 5.1? Is it?

Posted by piet007 on 02-21-2008 11:35 AM:

this is out of sync, the sound they used from the workprint isn't synchronized.

Has putang8 already stated...it indeed does have a DD5.1 track...but it's not to be shouted about and that's ignoring the sync problem. :s

Posted by putang8 on 02-21-2008 02:48 PM:

How can it be out of sync when PowerDVD reports that this is an original 5.1 audio track??

The 5.1 audio indicates this wasnt a sync job. It appears to be a direct rip from the original source.

So all the comments regarding syncing issues and the audio being from a different source, seems false.

Video is excellent, but audio goes high and low, and voices jump between centre speaker and main speakers, seems more like 2.0 upmixed to 5.1 to me, but hey, I'm no expert.

Great movie!

the audio and video can be from the same source but still out of sync purely as a result of shitty mastering - as is often the case with r5s. Though this doesnt appear a sync job (ie its not using the audio from the workprint), its not perfect - 8/5/7.

Posted by HKPh003y on 02-21-2008 05:01 PM:

This is definitely not the workprint audio. However, there are out-of-sync issues all over the place, nothing really major judging from what I saw & heard by skimming through it on the pc, but still noticeable. As tezmo already said, this could be the result of shitty mastering, or of this (from UNIVERSAL nfo):

quote:
we cut 4min from 9 of the credits to keep the video untouched.

After demuxing, the audio is reported to be only 1:22,21 - although video is 1:27,xx (sorry didn't take note of exact time) so there is something wrong with the audio. I also noticed that the video had speed changes in order to sync up while watching some scenes on my pc, so I'm anxious to see how well this plays on a standalone.

There is an untouched DVD9 of this R5 out there, so I'm curious to hear if sync issues are present on it as well.

Finally, this is a bad authoring job, with the menu removed but not really, as it just plays a black screen instead looped over and over again. Not a big issue as it takes a few minutes to do a proper burnable VTS folder with the one-click prog of your choice, but still a bad and very unnecessary surprise, especially for people burning this image on good faith. Feels like UNIVERSAL wanted to be first and rushed through the finish line a bit to hastily.

If sync issues are present on untouched version, this is an adequate release by UNIVERSAL marred by bad authoring. If the sync issues are the result of cutting the end credits, this should be nuked, but I give them the benefit of the doubt until I know better.

Video=9
Audio=5 (quality more like 8 for an R5 but due to sync)
Movie=didn''t watch yet

Hmm, when you say this is not proper 5.1 then what is it?

My speakers and system recognises this as a 5.1 track so what the heck is it?

And how bad are the sync issues on this release?

The xvid is out of sync also.. assuming the dvd was converted to xvid so since there are sync issues with the dvd there is also sync issues on the xvid.

I got the xvid first and at 50-51min mark you really notice the sync issues.

It means that someone took that 2.0 track and converted it to 5.1... Basically it's gonna sound like a Pro Logic II track. The converter basically just takes different sounds frequencies and puts them in the rear channels.

V: 7.5 - Decent, but not on par with a few R5s I have seen.
A: 5 - DD2.0 up-mix more than likely
M: n/a - Have not seen, gonna wait for Proper.

get a grip....5.1 ac3 files can be made very easily just like mp3s and other formats with various progs...it means jack shit to if its an original audio track

based on an r5

v-9
a-1
m-10

video is as you expect it to be.

the audio is f***ked: it goes out of sync here and there, and as already mentioned, the menu was not properly removed and you get a black screen on loop. for those who didn't have a chance to re-author it before putting it onto a dvd, you can simply just hit "STOP" on your stand-alone once or twice, and hit "PLAY" to get past the loop.

if this is the original track, then WTF happened during mastering? and if it isn't, then god be with the person who did it... or more like richard simmons be with the person.. yeah, thats it.

not worth it imho.

dunno why this hasn't been nuked. i'm surprised the sheep nukers haven't done a thing.
