Odeon Vs Sony

Only found this out the other day by chance, I was behind someone in a queue who was asking if the Odeon was gonna screen some Bollywood flick and she was told no it wouldn't be because of some dispute Odeon Cinema's has with Sony.

When the local Odeon didn't show Rambo, I thought this was purely because the movie was going to be a steaming pile of tud but I was wrong. Apparently Odeon cinemas are not allowed to screen any Sony movies. Thats got to be the death of Odeon, with the next biggest blockbuster, Hancock being a Sony production. Anyway, just thought I would share that bit of useless information.

(Vue cinemas are better anyway, bigger chairs, more leg room, hotter staff)

Sony also owns (or has a large stake in) Columbia, Tristar, MGM, UA, Orion, Mandalay, Screen Gems... And, as you've highlighted, they also distribute throughout the world a shitload of Asian cinema which they don't necessarily produce.

Odeon are, apparently, fucked.
