Uhh...

So I wanted to put my dvd burner into the computer that I just got...so I did but it woudln't recognize the drive, or the regular dvd-rom drive. Ok, whatever. So I took out the dvd burner, put the original cd burner back in, powered up the pc and the monitor won't come on. I get very frustrated and think it's my monitor...so I just so happen to tell my girlfriend to turn on the tv and it's on AV, and is displaying my desktop. Ok, that's not too strange, except I didn't put it to that setting. So I try and go to NVIDIAs settings and put it to computer, but it only has 'TV' and my computer will no longer recognize that my monitor is connected. If this makes any sense to any of you, do you have any idea why it may be doing this? Thanks in advance.

You have the strangest problems bro.

Ok, I'd say for some reason you're TV is set to the main screen, and your monitor isn't being recognized by windows. Maybe try a differnt vga/dvi cord if possible, try a different pc with that monitor, you can use your laptop as well.

Also maybe reseat the video card.

As for the dvd burner try make sure the jumpers are set correctly.

The monitor was working fine, and I even plugged another working monitor up and still, nothing. I have yet to plug the monitor(s) to another cpu, but I really see no point. I thought that unplugging my S-Video (yes, I'm using crappy S-Video) cable might force it to read the monitor, but no such luck. It's not like using my television is a terrible thing, but I shouldn't have to use it when I have a working monitor.

About the dvd burner; how do I check to see if the jumpers are set correctly?

And, I installed Guitar Hero III (the actual disc, which oddly didn't ask me for my serial..though I have it) and I went to click on the game icon and it wouldn't load. It came up with the 'send error report' or, 'dont send'. What could that be about? Could it be because the game can't display through my television (for whatever reason)? Also. I was playing ITG2 and I would play so many songs and then my screen would get no signal and I could no longer hear the games music.

Ok, Did you reseat the Vid card? Try that. The reason I told you to test the monitor on another pc is so that you can verify if it's the monitor or the video card. It's that simple. Since you did try another monitor, I'm going to guess it's the vid card. First reseat the god damned thing. Make sure it's flushed.

Since you were inside the box you could statically shocked it without realizing it. Try the card in a different box, first reseat the damn thing. I bet you fucked your card up though. Good job.

Don't know what kind of burner you got, look at the instruction manual for jumper settings. there with the plug ins.

I kow someone might suggest it being a power issue, but I'd seriously doubt it since the display is working on the tv.
