This is definitely the one to get.

Rated as R5
V-10
A-10
M-7

I didn't experience any sync issues, so far it looks like a flawless R5.

Dont compare this with DVD, HD, or 5.1 Audio, DTS etc, rate the audio as LiNE and the video as R5.

a much needed improvement.. thanks mvs for making a watchable release for us.

v: 9 (only mastered retail would be better)
a: 7 a little low on but pretty damn good for direct line and about 100x better then the other cam sources
m: looks pretty good will watch tomorrow

edit: haha why did some kid rate it 4/4.. some people have nothing better to do i guess.

V-8
A-7
M-6 (THE ENDING SUX)

100000x better than the other pre's

Great video, crappy audio (it may be Line, but it still sounds like crap), ok movie.

Get your act together MVS (not that it's ever actually ever been together, but you have to start at some point).

Posted by Anno on 03-30-2008 02:44 AM:

Audio is still poor.
OK in quiet scenes with just low level voices but whenever there is noise (and this film has plenty) The distortion is terrible. Better than prior releases but sounds heavily filtered and IF it is line/direct it's from something like a crappy FM drive-in theatre, but then again, it is mvs so what do you expect. Their usual gumph.
It does seem to be synched ok tho.

V:8
A:4

Posted by denmat on 03-30-2008 03:33 AM:

Audio is a lot better, not perfect but not as bad as some say it is. I downloaded and extracted the 1st rar of each release and this one is, the proverbial, miles better. I did not hear this bad distortion on the loud scenes though (could be speakers maybe)
After all it is a R5 line, You should not be expecting dvd quality dolby digital sound.
If in doubt convert to dvd and let the tele sort it out, sound always is much better there than on the computer.

Anyway
V=9 (very good, crisp and clear)
A=6.5-ish possibly 7 - Rated as Line (not the best line, but not all together that overly bad.
M=? (will watch this)

:MOD EDIT: ..links to samples/releases aren't allowed here. -V

From scanning and now watching. Video fine. Audio much improved. No longer crappy cam but not exceptional line either. As someone already has noted the one to get.

9/7/?

Posted by surge on 03-30-2008 05:37 AM:

The audio is better than the previous releases, but I still think that it could be better, even for a Line.

video is great - 9 for R5
audio - 5.5/6
m - ?

I can't really tell from the sample on that pinter-int one as to which one is better or not..i dunno

Edit: Aight, after watching the few first minutes of the mVs one, especially in the scenes with the crowd noise, I can definately confirm that the sample for the pinter-int one is way better.

What difference is it going to make on DVD if it's still the same 'line' audio?

Posted by Ratbag on 03-30-2008 12:30 PM:

The audio is not direct. It is the same cam audio as all the others.
For these reasons:-
1: The audio starts in exactly the same place approx 4-5 secs in on the Columbia Logo.
2: If you listen carefully at 20mins 56 secs you will hear the whistle has been edited out (Quads voice is cut short).
3: The audio finishes halfway through the end credits same as Cam.
4:If you listen carefully the audio frequency is heavily filtered to try to get rid of the cam hollow sound (reverb).In fact so heavily filtered at 29:20,41:05,49:40 you can hardly here the chimes of the town clock.

By the way My Credentials. I've been an Audio/Visual Engineer for 40 years.

V = 8
A = 4
M = 8

In fact should be "Nuked" Cam Audio not line and Stolen Audio.

Posted by Forsaken on 03-30-2008 01:22 PM:

yeah the audio is pretty poor in this

watched 10 min and had to stop cause it was so bad.

v - 9
a - 2
m -?

Not here to argue regardless of who you claim to be. Everyone has ears and so if this is a total cam, it is the best filitered cam in the world. Come dude, you see releases all the time where cam audio is edited in to replace direct spots, watch Roscoe Jenkins. Where is starts isn't proof, it just means that is where they started the direct sound. It's direct with some cam added, you can nuke it if you like based on that. There is no way you can be honest and say the whole thing is cam. My credentials...I have ears and they work. Don't believe me, look at my recent Flight Physical. Nice comments though, I can't say I would spend the time to listen and marking spots though unless you really liked this release also.

I agree.
Reguardless of all the stuff you said, I have ears too...
And there is just something NOT right about the audio here...Or it could just be really crappy line? Either way, it could be better.

Posted by shotaiken on 03-30-2008 07:08 PM:

It's CAM audio, but just enhanced, and for certain STOLEN from other releases.

But audible.
