Watch and download simultaneously?

Is there a way to start watching an AVI/MKV from the first bunch of RAR files, while the last files are still being downloaded?

If I double click the video file in WinRAR, it wants to extract the whole file before playing.

I can extract the first half with the "keep broken files" option, and MPC-HC will play the broken file, but I then have to re-extract half way through.

I've heard XBMC will do this, but I'm looking for a Windows solution.

Maybe THIS will do it?

So long as they're "stored" archives and not compressed you can normally just hurl the rar files into VLC.

Using anything other than "store" in a RAR set is against scene rules - although I've never seen a release nuked for it.

Two issues with the approach you suggest:
1. How do you "hurl" the RAR files that have not yet downloaded and are still in the queue? (or are you opening the files from the remote location and using VLC to "stream" them directly?)
2. Besides, I don't really like VLC's interface. But that's just me.

Thanks, will give that a try.

Sorry Fuckchops, I misunderstood your question... Thought you were just wanting to have a quick look to judge the quality, not start watching it. I might have to grab NSBPlayer myself

I'm new so bear with me. Watch a lot of movies. Viewing one while still downloading would be nice. Does anything really work? Thanks.

^If you've got a fast connection, a source of .nzb files, newsgroup access and NZBPlayer... Yes

Will give it a go. Appreciate the advice.
