So tell me...does this release also have the badly encoded ending?

Posted by Butch on 08-11-2008 01:20 PM:

*from sample/s*

Looks a lot smoother than the mVs release but if you got that there's no point wasting your time.

8/8/?

From skipp[ing through it ,coloursare good ,it's insyn and more importantly doesnt have the blockiness at the 53 min mark some of the other releases have suffered from

Posted by FIXER on 08-11-2008 04:19 PM:

This looks like the one to get at the moment, no breakup after 54 mins like the tube rls, had to increase gain on sound by 22 dB that came out fine for me.

V-8
A-8
M-10 very funny

You mean the one that was nuked for problems in the video?

Posted by crudman on 08-11-2008 08:09 PM:

The release should say it in release name but they dont.

This is FS (full screen) not WS. Bleh.

Plus, it starts with a warning that this has been edited (like the disclaimer you see on a movie thats being shown on TV) both for content and to run in a limited amount of time. So its quite likely that this version is missing scenes compared to theatre version.
Pic of warning:

I say give it a pass. Wait for a WS version that not possibly cut.

Does anyone know if this version crops anything out?

As I said in my previous post, its FS (4:3).
Its quite likely a P&S FS, so its not "cropped" per se.

Depends what you mean by cropped. Is it missing stuff on edges compared to WS 16:9? Yes.

Is it possibly missing scenes? Yes, the warning at the begining implies it.

But technically, its not "cropped"
Its not a cam, so its not "bad AR" or "overcropped" or whatever.

Can't see what all the fuss is about, if you don't like the warning remove it, took about 5 Min's with shrink, and regarding the maybe missing scenes if I ain't seen them In the first place I won't miss them, WS would be good but this will do fine for now, my grandson loves this film and that says it all for me.

Enjoy it it's not that bad.

I think you missed the point...

A LOT better than the previous TUBE release, no distorted/pixelated video after 50 mins/ish

V:9
A:9
M:10

Posted by denmat on 08-12-2008 08:50 PM:

As stated a lot better than previous releases, no blockiness from 53 mins, this runs good all the way to the end. Sound seems a bit low, but hey thats what volume controls are for. As for the warning, it is easily removed as stated.

Now I have not seen this version or the cinema release, but for those worring about missing scenes, this screener has the same run-time as the cinema release, so I cant imagine too much missing. Anyway ill let the kids tell after they watch and ill get back if they notice any missing scenes.

V=9 (rated as a VHS screener, for this its a good rip)
A=7.5 (seems a bit low but insync and good)
M=? (have not watched. but the kids loved it)

Yeah I didn't notice anything obvious missing, and like you say the runtime is the same.

V=8
A=8
M=7
Not as good as hoped for, but the kids will like it.
