Burn-in LCD flat panel tv

When I watch broadcast cable it looks like shit when it's stretched or zoomed in. I leave it pillar boxed cause it looks a lot better.

Now I have a line down the right side of the screen where pillar box begins, Has anyone had this? Anyone know of a way to get rid of it?


Misconception #3: LCD TVs suffer from burn-in.

Absolutely untrue. LCD monitors work by blocking light, so it is literally impossible for burn-in to occur on the screen. LCD TVs are sometimes referred to as "transmissive" displays, meaning that light isn't created by the liquid crystals themselves. Instead, a light source (bulb) behind the panel shines light through the display, which uses liquid crystals to manipulate the intensity of that light. When light is generated from a source external to the display screen itself, images cannot be permanently—or even temporarily—retained.

This is what I thought to be true, So what the fuck is going on? Anyone have an idea?

Take a picture dude but if you're meaning you have a perfect vertical line of dead pixels then I think it's fooked

but why not try puting the tv back to factory settings.

On my lappy i had a wallpaper pc of the moon.
it was a high res pic with pin sharp edges on a black background.

it wasn't until after a few months of changing it back to a plain black wallpaper
that i noticed it had 'burnt in' and left a faint round line.

BUT, this faded after a few weeks.


i think you will be ok, if you went back to full screen, it should fade after some time.

Try displaying a plain white screen for a few hours.

I am totally used to the image being stretched. I refuse to use zoom (on 4:3 shows/movies/whatever especially), it crops off a good amount (unless it's a ws movie/show/whatever). Why would I want black bars on the side (4:3)?!? To each their own.

I do believe it's starting to fade a bit.

I did watch Iron Man 1080p and I gotta say that was simply amazing in HD. The only other copy I saw was a shitty cam when it first came out. Barely saw the line throughout the whole movie.

Man what kind of pc do you have to have to run 1080p? I have a AM2 Dual Core 5000+ with a agp ati 2600xt 2gb/ram

The movie played ok for the most part but stutered at times. I guess it's time for a new pc.

i only have a dual core laptop 1.6ghz
2gb ram and 1080p plays fine on mine.

don't have much things running in the background and i just recently re-installed xp.

no special settings just using xbmc for windows at the moment.

have you tried zoom player ?

when you install it connects to their server and installs all the codecs.

i just leave settings on default in all the players i've used.


i found it much better than vlc to be honest

Woohoo, The tv is going to be fine, that vertical line is almost gone.

That makes me happy. I'm actually getting used to the zoomed in picture, I don't mind it so much.
