Got the DVDR from Alliance

V: 10
A: 10
M: 10

This is one fucking amazing movie, didn't expect this.

Liam Neeson was amazing. Top notch release from alliance, as usual.

Then go post in the DVDR thread...and wait, the dvdr is without subs and you're rating 10's.

The subs that came with this have two english streams and for some reason they both look like crap and translate english for english...useless. ALLIANCE strikes again.

Who cares about English subs if it has English audio already?

Just watched it, and I'm impressed.

V: 9.5

A: 9

M: 9

Just a guess, but maybe someone with hearing disabilities who can't hear the audio?

There isnt a vote for features

Theres video,audio and movie
I dont give a fuck about subs since I understand English.

If there was a feature vote Id have given it a 7 but the video is perfect for the DVDR (same for xvid rip)

It has portions where Albanian, French, and Farsi (?) are spoken and subtitles for these parts are NOT included in the Alliance release
This movie doesn't get released theatrically in the U.S. until Jan. 2009.
I think the R1 retail copy will have the foreign language parts hard coded.

Similar to Pukka's R5 release but a little better audio and video quality.

GREAT MOVIE

V = 9
A = 9
M = 10

If you're going to complain about subtitles, why not just get the Pukka release? Or wait for R1 retail.

Just finished entire movie from start to end. Quality of everything was perfect, movie was much better than expected. Would recommend watching, especially if you enjoyed Man on Fire similar plot and same feelings you get from movie.

Video - 10
Audio - 9
Movie - 8.5

EXACTLY. Pukkas release was great but thats not the point. I AM waiting for the DVDRip...RETAIL, and that's what I was saying.
Oh and btw, with three votes being given in a post, you can find a place to mention obvious problems like this somewhere within your voting and that is what I was talking about. Waste of f*%#n bw.

Was this directed towards me?
I wasn't complaining and I already have Pukka's release otherwise how could I have compared the two?
BTW the subs for Pukka's copy are only for the French dialog and are incomplete.
I was commenting on and rating this release something you've failed to do in either of your posts.

Wait a sec, I still didn't get it... now, does this release come with subs for all spoken foreign language parts? Or does it only have subs for english spoken parts? Could someone please clear that up? And are these foreign language parts important to the story in any way?

Only subs for english spoken parts. Fair amount of french so yea kind of important.

Too bad.

I guess with all those rubbish p2p reencodes/repacks coming in no one bothers to nuke the "only" subpar quality anymore.

Taken

Audio: 9
Video: 8
Movie: 10

I would have given the video a nine if the Alliance subs were more complete. Looking forward to a better subs file. Movie will scare and amaze you. Scare you if you have daughters and amaze you as Liam searches for his daughter. Well worth the d/l but don't watch it right before you go to bed.

Posted by danslo on 11-09-2008 12:18 AM:

yeah and def dont watch it before ya rub one out, totally kills the mood.

great movie though, and a+ on the release sans the subs

Posted by suavejones on 11-10-2008 04:55 AM:

Cool ?

With all the people going on about the subs.... im in Australia and watched this at the cinema, it DID NOT have subs for the french parts when i saw it.... might explain the lack of subs in this release eh?

Posted by Sherweaz on 12-24-2008 03:39 AM:

V: 9 (Would be a 10 if it had hardcoded subs for the foreign language part)
A: 9
M: 10

Anyone know when the R1 drops?
