First ever Woody Allen movie I really enjoyed

I've never liked Woody Allen, I feel he's a bit of a creep. So I never watched his movies and if I have I always went into them with a hatred of Woody Allen so that tainted the movie for me, but...

I just watched Vicky Cristina Barcelona and I must say this was a fantastic movie. I hate to say it but Woody Allen both wrote and directed this gem of a movie.

If you haven't seen it, it's a must see movie.

3 1/2 out of 4 stars. Fantastic movie.

I only watch romance movies under duress. I don't dig holes for myself by suggesting romance movies my mrs has never heard of.

This is being swept under the carpet.

Not Woody Allen but kind of a romantic film that I really enjoyed and not I'm not ashamed to admit it.

It was called Once

Cupid stop being a cunt, It's a good movie and you seem to have pretty decent taste in movies so you might like it.

One of the best movies I've seen in a few years was a love story, Bella.

No, the difference between you and me? I have taste.

I'm secure about my sexuality so I can watch movies like that and not feel gay, you on the underhand....?

I love rom-coms...and this has Scarlett in if I'm not mistaken? I'll be watching it, will post back once I've seen it.

The ultimate rom-com is 'My Sassy Girl', another piece of Korean brilliance. Strongly recommend that one.

I'm not into rom-coms at all, I've seen a few that were ok. I like substance to my stories, lol.

I wouldn't necessarily say a comedy, but it's irony.

Only real men can watch this type of movie with or without there woman. Now that I've seen it I can recommend it to a chick and I score points with her.

Only real men can take the pain of a cock in the ass.

Rom-coms are things to be endured, not enjoyed.

I haven't seen any Woody Allen since his early stuff and even then it's years since I saw any of em. Can't say "Rom-coms" inspire me either but I've seen some over the years that were ok... "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" springs to mind.

More power to ya bro, I hope you enjoy it.

I'm in the minority here, I could not stand Eternal Sunshine. I was fucking bored throughout the whole movie.

Does Eternal Sunshine fall into the rom-com category? I did like that, I am a huge fan of all things Kaufman. Having said that, Eternal Sunshine IS my least favourite Kaufman movie, probably because of its romcom aspects.

There aren't many comedies/funny/dark movies that don't have the 'hero' and a chick he's after; the journey he takes/makes to convince the chick that 'he's the one' is the central theme of most. In most cases the hero starts out as a failure/loser in some way.

The vast majority of Brit coms over the past 20-odd years have been romcoms, regardless of the context/journey that the hero takes.

Saw Ghost Town the other day, that's a decent romcom/feelgood movie too.

If you liked Sleepers then check out 'Take the money and run', by far and away his funniest (haha/slapstick) movie. 'Bananas' is brilliant, 'Love and Death' is pretty funny too. 'Zelig' is strange but very good, funny in places.

Beyond those, of his 'relationship' movies Manhattan is excellent and I liked 'Annie Hall'. Have seen a few others, but they're mostly nondescript, all fade into each other, with a few exceptions like 'Purple Rose...' that are slightly different.

Good call. Watched it last week and it had an 80's feelgood feel to it. Felt a bit of a tear in the eye near the end. I'll put that down to too much testosterone being converted to estrogen... Time to get the nolva's out

I watched this a couple of nights ago myself and enjoyed it. Same night that I watched Vicky Christian Barcelona.
