RIAA to abandon lawsuits

After years of suing thousands of people for allegedly stealing music via the Internet, the recording industry is set to drop its legal assault as it searches for more effective ways to combat online music piracy.

Looks like you'll have to buy your music now para.

yeah now they're lobbying extra hard to get the ISPs to use the leverage of cutting off and limiting access to the internet instead since they realize after not winning a single successful case in the legal system without settling that it's the cheaper and more efficient route to circumvent that system entirely.

yay! major corporations never collapse to ridiculous political and economic pressure from sources that shouldn't really have any influence! /sarcasm

It was almost better when they were trying to sue people, at least then you knew they were going to lose, with this focus and major media companies behind ISPs it'll just be a matter of time.

Woot Woot, itunes here I come.

As long as they don't come up with another elaborate scheme to go after individuals I'll be happy.

This is the only reason I stopped buying music. I still Hate the RIAA, but I'll feel somewhat better buying it.

I may look into Rhapsody or something like that, Cause those are legal, and I'm sure RIAA get's there portions.

100% bullshit. Theyve stated many times they have stopped filing lawsuits (HERE ), they hve lied to colleges about contacting students, they have lied to judge about contacting students, they have lied to judges about not knowing about contacting people and I am pretty sure they have lied to ISPs about the benefit of proposed music taxes.

Basically they full of doggy doo.
