El Rey de la Montaña
A mishap - my lack of Spanish and thinking 'montana' meant 'mountain' - stopped me finding this movie a long time ago. Thanks to OSH - probably not a phrase you'll hear often on this site - that was sorted a couple of days ago.
It's just over 80 minutes of near unrelenting tension. It's senseless, brutal and gritty.
Actually, not senseless. There is a validation, and it's pointless enough to be stupid...but just this side of believable to be a nightmare that you read about happening for real. Not as far fetched as Hostel (or as full of gore to put anyone off watching) though.
The last 15 or so minutes maybe slip away slightly (especially when you discover the source of the nightmare), but it had me more involved in the preceding 70 minutes than just about any thriller - or is it a horror? - than any movie I've seen since...ummm....maybe Se7en - not as good as that piece of excellence by any means, but still gripping.

PS: the chick, Maria Valverde, if you like her check out a movie called 'Melissa P' that she made when she was 17...trust me you will NOT be disappointed

Id like to know what you think montaña means now....because it does mean mountain. I wouldn't say montaña for hill like, ever. I would say colina.
