Question regarding Igor.FIX.DVDRip.XviD-Larceny

I hope this is the correct section for my question.

For the release Igor.DVDRip.XviD-Larceny there has been released a fix Igor.FIX.DVDRip.XviD-Larceny so that the movie may play on standalone players.

My question is, how do I "install" this fix and are the files safe? There's both a mmcl.exe and l-igor-fix.bat, I'm usually not fond of running "unknown" .exe og .bat files on my computer.

Hope someone can shead some light on the matter :-)

I hate these fixes aswell.

What pisses me off is that you need to have the right codecs installed for the fix to actually work if its a nandub kind of fix.

Anyways if the source of your files is safe in your mind and the SFV checks out then i would say you are pretty safe.

You can allways do it on a Virtual machine or someone else computer just in case.

Edit:

Just googled and mmcl.exe is a bit of cool software, I have used before and it was safe to my knowledge. I'm gusesing the fix is just going to unpack the bitstream for you so no harm done there. The bat file will just give it the command line instructions of what to do.

Just run the bat and wait until it's done.

Yep, the fix works a treat... Extract the AVI and then put the .bat and .exe in the same folder and run the .bat - takes about 5-10mins to process the file and you're sorted

Is there any way of doing it without installing the necessary codec? I have no codecs installed....I just use vlc and like it that way. Djpecker mentioned something about a virtual machine?

I don't think it needs codecs, I've got none installed on my PC from what I remember... I only use VLC or GOMPlayer as well

In fact, I just checked my installed codecs and beyond the standard XP stuff there's nowt.

This fix doesn't need codecs as it unpacking the bit stream.

Most fixes fix audio sync so they need codecs.

I also run a codecless system, I just use VLC.

As far as i am aware there is no way around it.

What we reall need is for Nandub to use VLC codecs or for there to be a standalone XVID codec that will help Nandub work.

If i need to do a fix i just use a virtual machine with installed codecs, then transfer the fixed file back to my real machine.

Thank you for all the replies :-)

I tried added .avi and .exe and .bat file in same folder, got this error when running .bat file.

Any ideas?

Presumably your .avi file ISN'T called l-igor.avi or the files aren't all on your desktop (which is where the batch file appears to be running from)... If that doesn't sort it, move all of the files into the root of your C: drive and do this:

1. Start>run>cmd <press enter>
2. Type c:\ <press enter>
3. Type "whatever the batch file is called" <press enter>

If THAT doesn't work, come back and tell us what happened

Hi Neversoft

Thank you for your answer, a stupid typo in the filename was the reason it didn't work, the movie has been fixed now :-)
