just watched this release, very good quality video, audio english 5.1, and not a bad remake of the original.

english subtitles appear for the foreign speaking part.

(sorry i could not edit my post until it appeared) no hard coded subs, but they displayed for me without enabling them.

Nice conversion. No problems. It's appreciated that some of the extras were kept as well.

Greets to all you aging old farts who know me who are still in whatever group

This release should be nuked. There aren't any hard-coded subs when they start speaking in Alien tongues in Mcdonald's.

The subs only show up when you turn the English subtitles on.

If there aren't any hard-coded subs that means it's "IMPOSSIBLE" for the subs to show.

quote:
the forced subs are definately NOT hardcoded They occur from 49mins 14secs into the movie. They are a seperate subtitle stream which is langidx - 1 in the idx/sub if you were to extract them There's approx 20lines of forced subs so fairly easy to separate or hardcode if required on conversion

That's why it should be nuked. It's like watching Passion of the Christ without subtitles.

If you haven't watched it yet, then don't say you can confirm it.

I've watched it already and tried it on 4 dvd players. Not once did the subs show up during the Mcdonald scene.

I've wasted 3 dvdr's. THIS SHOULD BE NUKED, PERIOD.

I emailed Svenne and asked them why they didn't include hard-coded subs. Here is their reply:

"Sorry, we are human and we make honest mistakes."

NUKE, NUKE, NUKE. This site is a disgrace if they do not nuke this release.

We don't nuke releases, we're just a release review site.

...and if you don't like the site, you know what you can do.

I watched the mcdonalds scene to comfirm it not rocket science is it? I watched it fully last night just played no messing with menu`s and again subs appeared fine so I must be lucky to have player that automatically displays them!

Me too, subs played fine on WinDVD, PowerDVD, a standalone DVD player and the 360, so MIT Pirate, nuke yourself for having so many crappy DVD players

This guy is retarded, they are not hardcoded subs but a decent DVD player will automatically choose English 2 subtitles when played just as a decent DVD player will automatically choose English 2 subtitles when watching The Godfather 2 for instance. The reason they are not hardcoded is this is a multi subbed release and if subs were hardcoded they would be in the way of other subtitles.

Pal releases usually have multi subs, so rather than author each dvd with hard coded subs they used common sense and authored 1 dvd for the whole of Europe rather than 3 or 4!!

Was waiting for someone to say that, you should post more often mate, you obviously have a brain more than a lot on here
