Animals and allergies

I decided to take this out of the joke thread. I'm sure I'm not the only one Allergic to mans best friend.

does it only shed periodically or constant?
if so then that's normal. Try A higher fibre diet with more dry food.

if its constant, then its a parasite that attacks the roots of the hair, have look, they are visible to the naked eye.

It's a very short haired dog, so if it was a parasite I'd be able to see it. I'm just allergic to dogs and they fuck with my allergies very badly.

I know it's the dander that irritates my nose, and bathing does help but with this cold weather it's not the best option. Is it safe to bathe a dog weekly? I know you're not suppose to bathe cats frequently it does something to there skin.

The dog is about 35 lbs, cute little fucker too. I don't know exactly what kind of doggy it is.

Theres not like a powder I can buy and throw on the carpet and sweep it up or throw a powder on the mutt?

I'm slightly allergic to cats but my cat has never bothered my allergies, I've gotten very lucky.

Could I mix a tad bit of that hypo-allergenic shampoo in his drinking water? I would imagine not, lol.

Putting shampoo in his drinking water was a joke but wondering if there is something you can put in there water to help with that?

none of that shit will work. i am allergic to cat dander and the only thing that works is to get the fuck away from it.

in short , don't choose to be around something that you are allergic to.

profound!

Bathing a dog will create more dander. I have a friend who suffers from it, dander that is not allergy to it. There's a special cream he puts in his bath which helps alleviate it. Maybe there's one for dogs too?

Anyway, what's with all these serious questions and sensible answers. This site has really gone downhill lately!

It's for the relief of psoriasis. The hospital gave it to him. I don't know what it's called.

I suspect any kind of moisturising bath would have a similar effect. Never heard of one for dogs though?

You shouldn't bath a dog any more than you have to, no good for thier skin.

If you or a member of your family is part of the 15% of our population allergic to pets, there are things you can do to help keep allergic reactions under control and make your home a much more comfortable place to live. Even if you do not have allergies, these tips are helpful if you have guests in your home that are allergic to animals.

* We spend from one third to one half of our time in our bedrooms. By keeping the animals out of the bedrooms at all times, we can greatly reduce the symptoms of pet allergies.
* Install a good "HEPA" air cleaner.
* Close the ducts to the bedrooms and use electric heaters.
* Clean and vacuum regularly.
* Bathe your pet weekly.
* Do not allow your pet on the furniture.
* Do not allow your pet in your car. (Or use car seat covers when your pet is in the car.)
* Brush your pet daily and use an allergy-reducing spray such as Allerpet.
* Keep your pet's skin healthy by feeding a good multivitamin and a fatty acid supplement. Encourage the pet to spend more time outdoors.
* Wash your hands after handling the pet, his toys, bed, etc.
* See your physician and discuss possible immunotherapy or medications.
