Never heard of it before, but does sound quite interesting. For less than the price of 3 pints I'll give it a go.

I read in a forum you can do it without the plate but its messy. It's apparently essential for ADSL2+ but as I'm already getting close to my service provider's maximum I don't think it would make much difference here?

Same here... I could piss on my BT exchange from my house if I wanted to so I get just shy of the full 8Mb so I wouldn't get any benefit from it.

Interesting read though... I'm meeting an old school BT bloke tomorrow (wow.. more like 6 hours time now... god bless cyber sex to cause you to lose track of time) so will get his take on it

For less than a tenner I'm gonna try one of these I think... If it doesn't work i can always sell it to an idiot

I thought they already fitted one if you subscribed to BeThere?

I'm with O2 (which is essentially BeThere I think) but they didn't do anything with my master socket. It's still the standard BT one.

Ordered 2 today - one for me and my mate said he wanted one - so should have two testers (both on Bethere) by next week.

FUCK! I have the wrong type of BT box

But, I did a little investigating at work today and seems all the i-plate does is to negate the 'orange with white bands' connector...which you could as easily do by pulling out the wire as it's effectively redundant anyway.

My BT box only had 2 wires attached, doubt it would've made a difference even if the i-plate had connected...

...but I'd have liked to have tried anyway, in case there is some signal 'cleaning' that goes on within the i-plate

i've been on cable for around the last 10 years but have got pissed off with my connection being throttled, so had a bt line installed last week as they are doing it for £30 until the end of the month.

So ADSL is completely new to me, and looked at the i-plate, but as the exchange is only round the corner i'll wait until my bethere connection is up on thursday to see what i get before i take the plunge and order one.

have a read of this , got some good info on there.

"Important note :- The i-plate does not separate voice and adsl data and still requires the need for separate adsl filters on each telephone device.
If you already have an adsl NTE5 faceplate and/or have removed the ring wire, then there isn't any point installing an i-plate."

I'm prolly a bit late posting this but you should prolly read this b4 buying ...

http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/cabl...-faceplate.html

I bought this from here... http://www.adslnation.com/products/xte2005.php

Noticed a significant improvement.

Hi guys,

I know that virgin media is nothing to do with ADSL (at least the fibre optic broadband side), but does anyone know if one if these products have been made for fibre optic and not the phone line?

The limiting factor with fibre isn't the quality of the line back to the exchange (like ADSL), it's the amount they choose to limit you to so this product wouldn't help. With a click of a button they could give you 100Mb if they wanted.
