Releases? What has happened?

Lately there haven’t been that many releases, at least in the DivX section. What has happened?

We've recently hit a bit of a "speed bump" cos we're short on updaters (don't ask, it's a long story!) for the site at the moment... We're working on the updates situation though - honest!

Candyman came up with a decent idea, let the gen queue or people who have been on this site long enough post the updates, and have like a queue for that you mods/admins have to approve.

Just an idea.

Very similar is planned for the site rewrite but that's on hold for reasons I can't go into... But yeah, a "User submissions" page that acts similar to the mod queue is potentially on the cards.

Actually there just haven't been a lot of major releases lately. Everything that's important made it to VCDQ.

I know a few of the cams haven't. Theres been a couple releases of Knowing, and I believe a copy of Witch Mountain.

I don't rely on the site for updates, I know some do. That's cool. That's the intended reason for the site, lol.

What's the scene standard for HD stuff, or is there a scene standard yet?

I know this site lists .x264 releases but there are numerous other formats out there, in all honesty I prefer the WMV-HD as they play natively off the 360, but some audio coding needs to be done to get it to play on the PS3.

I wish there was a universal format that would play on the xbox/ps3/pc/etc. Right now there isn't.

Yes there is a universal way, you need full blue ray rips and burn them to the br disc or encode em to whichever format you want to use

Watch out though seems blue ray full releases are on the way up as br disk prices are coming down quite fast

Either read mothers post in computer room or look at arts post in burning for more info

I'm talking about a format like Xvid for example. You can't play BD disks in a Shit Box.

I don't think they'll ever come out with what I want.

I know you can download the full release which is a .TS file if I'm not mistaken, but there huge files.

you can download whole BD which range from 20-50GB

They also have "re-muxed" videos where they strip the movie untouched and throw it in an MKV container

I stick to the 720p x264 rips as I only have a 720p HDTV so anymore would be overkill really.

You can even convert them to x264 and put them on a DVD5 and play them back in Blu-Ray player

WMV is pretty much for 360.

Also, I loooove the idea for user submission with mod approval.

Don't know if there is a more recent update.

are you still updating releases by hand? Why not write a script to do it automatically?
