Cisco CCENT/CCNA/CCDA Certifications

Just signed up for a 7 day geek training camp to get my CCENT, CCNA and CCDA Cisco certifications and wondering if anyone else here has them/other cisco certs or even done any of the accelerated courses before in the tech field.

Also, if anyone wants to flaunt their special training they've received in their various forms of employment (looking at you, fluffers) of this thread go nuts :P

I looked at the thread title nd knew that punz was gonna be the thread starter

How much is the course costing? I guess the IT jobs market is being hit the same as the rest of the economy?

The IT job market basically sucks, but it's the only thing I can see myself doing and have actually excelled at, hence why I'm trying to push any edge i can get for interviews with some extra certs (got linux+, getting these, going for mcse after).

Course is costing $3600 with room (it's like your personal little condo for the week), test fees and small food items (coffee and such during the exams) so it will run me ~$4k total (USD). I figure it's worth it if I can knock three certs out within only a weeks time, even if its not going to yield any immediate job spots it will look good (possibly will go the next level of testing with cisco if I can see it being worth it).

I was a test away from CCNA quite a few years ago and decided not to take it. Recently it has come back and one of my techs has to be Cisco certed within 2 months. Who is handling the boot camp you are attending?

I currently have the MCITP:Server Administrator, various COMPTia and enough experience in the actual environment with most anything/everything I don't fear getting work should I need to.

www.trainingcamp.com is who i'm going with, we'll see how they are, I have a feeling I'll do well in this type of environment with just 24/7 access to the hardware.

Passed CCNA, studied for CCNP and ended up too busy to take the exams so my CCNA has now expired. I'm still at CCNP level at the moment and just need to brush up on a few new areas and start taking exams again. I've been put on an absolute assload of courses over the years being trained on most aspects of Cisco, some Juniper and some Nortel. I work mainly on Cisco networks and manage a team of people who design/implement/support them.

If you want a Cisco emulator for home, have a look at this. I've used it successfully to test out some routing changes we wanted to make to resolve some asymmetric routing on a customer's network. It uses the actual IOS images so you really are getting a full Cisco emulator.

just a quick update, I passed the Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 1 today, 916/1000 points woo! (804 is passing, part 2 is on friday which rounds out the ccna, ccda test is on sunday and i'm out of here)

Been here since sunday, the bootcamp is brutal, the days are very long (at very least 10 hours of information/studying/labs, usually more in the 12-14hr range) but its an environment I definitely like. Moves at a fast pace to pack in so much information and so many concepts but the teacher is a decent guy who knows his shit, has enough energy and decent enough sense of humor to keep things dynamic (since today was test day we all hit up the bar/restaurant at the other part of the resort to celebrate, ended up talking with him for like an hour trading gambling stories, he seems to like hold em and blackjack even moreso then I do).

first night i haven't been cramming like crazy, back to the grind as early as 8am tomorrow though, very interesting experience i like this bootcamp, defintely going to consider going for ccnp with this same teacher when it comes around if i do well.

Second update, passed the part 2 by ONE question! I thought for sure I was failing it, guess I'm just too awesome.

so now i'm ccna (realized thread title is wrong i'm only getting my ccna/ccda here btw) certed, have ccda class tomorrow and test on sunday and i'm out then, been a fun ride, i really would like to look into the ccnp further but since i barely made it out alive of the ccna I'm not sure thats the best of ideas.

woot, just happy ;p
