Want to Own a Piece of Movie History? Slumdog Millionaire Kid for Sale

Yes, this is actually happening. Rubina Ali (the littlest girl from Slumdog Millionaire) is being put up for adoption by her evil overlord father, Rafiq Qureshi, for $300,000. His rationale?
“I have to consider what’s best for me, my family and Rubina’s future… We’ve got nothing out of this film.”
You know, I have to say, if your father is trying to sell you for cash, you probably should be placed in some better living conditions with a family who can afford to pay $300,000 for a kid. But secondly, if this guy’s saying he has “nothing,” don’t you think he’s being a bit greedy? I mean, I’m not incredibly well versed in Indian economics but I’m guessing $300K there would probably make you ruler of your province or something.
So yeah, this is super ****ed up, and hopefully Danny Boyle will let this kid come live at one of his six mansions or something.

Get bidding, if she turns out looking like the older actress from SDM then she's got to be worth a couple of quid.

Saw the father was denying it all and the two mothers, her real and step, going at it on camera choking each other up lol.

Either way fucking sad really. I heard though that the producers or director had setup some type of trust fund for each of the children actors. Anyone know if there's any truth to that?

Shame it's not true... I was going to spend VCDQs vast income from advertising on a new website mascot

It is true. Do not question the authenticity of The News of the Worlds 'Fake Sheikh'. All joking aside, the fake sheikh has caught out numerous greedy cunts in the past and all stories eventually proved to be true, Fake Sheikh . I believe this slumdog story to be factual.

I can't believe you just used the words "News of the World" and "Factual" in a paragraph without any hint of sarcasm... Have you suffered a blunt trauma to the head recently?

Do not confuse The News Of the World with The Daily Sport.

News of The World is a legitimate source of news, albeit a condensed and biased one. It is actually accountable for the stories it prints and is bound by libel* laws, its stories may be embellished and exaggerated at times but they are based upon fact.

LFC gave away the last remnants of title hopes tonight.

But your sarcasm and double-edged introspective humour (that I've highlighted by quoting) has cheered me up.

I'm not sure whether it's the use of "news", "legitimate", or "fact" to describe the content of the trivial pisspoor shitrag that most made me smile.

Thanks for that.

By legitimate I mean that it doesn't print falsehoods and doesn't just 'make shit up'. It may be more 'pop news' than actual news but the stories are true.

Good point, well made... They don't lose all of their libel cases

http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=e...the+world+libel

Or I could quote from the Wikipedia article on them (another creditable source!)...

* In 2005, England footballer David Beckham and his wife Victoria brought a legal action against the paper seeking libel damages over an article that carried the headline: "Posh and Becks on the Rocks." The legal action was withdrawn in 2006 and "resolved on a confidential basis," according to the couple's spokeswoman Jo Milloy.
* In April 2006, England footballer Wayne Rooney received £100,000 in damages from the publishers of The News of the World and its sister paper The Sun over articles falsely reporting he had slapped his then-fiancée and now wife, Coleen. Both had always denied the reports.
* In June 2006, England footballer Ashley Cole received damages from the publishers of The News of the World over articles falsely alleging the footballer had used a mobile phone as a gay sex toy. Together with its sister paper The Sun, The News of the World paid Cole £100,000 to settle the case
* In July 2006, a libel action brought by the Scottish politician Tommy Sheridan came to court in Edinburgh. Sheridan denied allegations, made by the newspaper in November 2004 and January 2005, that he had an affair, engaged in group sex and attended a swinger's club in Manchester. Sheridan won the case and was awarded £200,000 in damages. The newspaper intends to appeal against the jury's decision [9], and has refused to pay out the money.

I don't care if the OP turns out to be true, but anybody with more than five firing neurons knows that a typical "exclusive" in the News of the World is about as valid and newsworthy as the Mystic Meg column.

Wasnt this the paper that ran the story about the 10 year old fathering a child with an 18 year old or something? I remember the girl looking like 'Jerry' from Enemy Mine.

Posted by David Cameron on 04-22-2009 02:38 PM:

4 stories out of thousands turned out to have been embellished or exaggerated. So the odds are firmly in favour of the buyable slumdog story being true. Just as Wayne Rooney shagging grannies turned out to be true and John Alford being a crack dealer turned out to be true and every other story apart from the few you mentioned turning out to be true.

British Press Awards 2009

quote:
Showbiz reporter of the year
Winner: James Desborough, News of the World
Highly commended: Richard White, The Sun

He "produced a series of uncompromising scoops which mean no celebrity with secrets can sleep easy".

quote:

Foreign reporter of the year
Winner: Dan McDougall, Freelance (The Observer, News of the World and The Mail on Sunday’s Live Magazine)

The judges said the winner's pieces were all "different and riveting". "Here is a reporter comfortable in all parts of the world who produces world exclusive stories with writing to match. Interesting and entertaining while at the same time brilliantly researched and sourced. A great range of reporting for very different markets."

No awards for political correspondence or Finance sector reporting, they know their niche and they do it well.

Oh and Neversoft.... Go Fuck Yourself you Fucking antagonistic self righteous piece of shit. And I mean that in the nicest possible way you sexy Guardian Loving cunt.

Finally

Actually, I'm not trying to antagonise you, I'm just embellishing the point that everything you say isgenerally ill-informed or just plain wrong and now we know why. It's a compliment in many ways, it turns out you're not a fascist or a poster boy for retarded people living in the community, you're just at the receiving and of a torrent of made-up shit perpetrated by your favourite newspaper in order to sell more newspapers to idiots. There's nothing "wrong" per se with reading the News of the World, clearly they have a demographic of bottom-feeding chavs and estate-dwellers that you fit into, I just want other forum members to give your "factual" posts the credence they deserve.

I for one hope the article is correct for once. The price is a little steep but my last Asian just died from exhaustion so I need a new one.

*ok, maybe I'm a little antagonistic

I don't read the news of the world, on the rare occasions I get out of bed on a Sunday I will buy a Sunday Mail.

This story may have originated with the undercover News of the World reporter but has since been picked up by

The Times

and

The Daily Mail

I'm not gonna check the Guardians version of events, it'll probably be along the lines of "Racist BNP supporting News of the World scumbag tries to bribe poor innocent poverty stricken Indian Family into handing over daughter"

I much prefer one of the witness statements picked up by a Journalist for The Times.

quote:
One neighbour said he knew of the proposed sale of Rubina. “One and a half crores of rupees \ is such a lot. Anybody here would let their child go to a better home for that sum,” he said.

The only surprising thing about all this is that The News of The World managed to outbid Madonna.

Well what do you know... I hope I don't sound tooooooo smug but despite such a paragon of news reporting breaking the story about the "sale" of that kid, the Police have investigated and it turns out it's all bullshit: http://www.onenewspage.com/news/Asi...-sale-claim.htm

Next Sunday's NotW exposé is an exclusive about me, apparently I'm a Nazi war criminal

The probe concluded that the dad did accept an offer of payment for his daughter but the police found evidence that the news of the world reporter instigated the deal.

Sooooo, sorry if I sound smug but it seems the story was true after all. The dad may not have sought out a buyer for his daughter but he sure as shit was ready to accept the offer made to him.

This story is very embarrassing to India, the cops woudn't want to charge the dad and have this played out in court.

Source? All I can find is references to the Police saying no crime was committed... That includes a site that I'm sure you would class as trustworthy - Sky News

I'll quote: "Indian police have said they have no evidence to suggest that the father of a child star in the Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire tried to sell his daughter."

Stop making shit up to try and make you look less idiotic and just admit you believed a bullshit report from the UK's #1 Chav idiot turdspurge and move on
