It looks good to me, I plan on going to the cinema to see it... Don't wanna watch something that relies so much on SFX on a shitty copy at home.

I liked the original movies, I liked the original shows, and the neg gen. etc.

This movie just looks bad, lol.

loved all the originals as well, and of course this is not going to compare to them. But it does look god imo and come on, star trek with (good) Special Effects??? the only way that can be bad is if George Lucas directs it.

Bet you the price of admission I go.

Para/Salad doesn't seem to know that I have seen EVERY Star Trek picture since the first one in the theatre. Even went to a Star Trek Marathon back in 1996 with First Contact being shown at Midnight (theatre release date) Ex-wife is actually a Trekker (not Trekkie you fucks!) like myself.

Ok. "IF" you do let me know. I'll go.

I may start geekin for this a bit, The early reviews are looking rather promising.

^ You should try "geekin" for it a bit... It looks good, is directed by JJ Abrams (if you like his stuff) and is receiving really good reviews - more to the point, it can't possibly suck as bad as any Trek movie released in the last 15 years!

After watching the clips on Rotten Tomato I've got a hardon even Neversoft would be proud of!

Notice Simon Pegg has a small part . Zachary Quinto seems to pull off a decent Spock, and Zoe Saldana is damn fine looking as Uhura yum!

I'm a giant linux nerd and this statement gave me geek douche-chills.

Warning... A few, minor spoilers here

Just came back from watching this and, for the most part, I thought it was fantastic. I do have a few quibbles, but they are very minor and in no way ruined my enjoyment of the film.

Firstly, It seems JJ has been taking tips from Michael Bay in how to shoot fight scenes that seem to blur to the point you can't figure out what is going on. Kirk's bar brawl was a prime example.

The score was average at best, dull and uninspiring at worst, although I did get goosebumps during the final moments but that was probably more to do with Spock's narration

Simon Peggs accent is atrocious, truly horrendous, and possibly borderline racist . In certain scenes he seemed to dip in and out of the accent on every other word.

Lastly, and probably my biggest problem,
I don't understand why Kirk was promoted to Captain so quickly at the end. Sure, he saved the day but is that any reason to promote him from a suspended ensign to the captain of the flagship? Wouldn't it have been better to have promoted him to lieutenant commander, then in the sequel have him as commander and keeping Pike on as Captain?
Overall though, I thought it was great.

dammm i shouldnt have read that

Yeah I agree with your points. I also found the score to be a little on the quiet side, like it didn't want to stand out.

A thing that bugged me, the lighting, it kept shining into the camera, hard to explain..

One question: How many explosions were there?

This is a serious question. I am polling Abrams/Bay movies to find out just how much shit goes kaboom.
