Chen, 2 million yuan ($293,200) in debt because of a failed building project, fell 8 meters (yards) onto a partially inflated emergency air cushion and was hospitalized with wrist and back injuries. Lai was detained by police.

Chen was at least the twelfth person since early April to threaten suicide at the same spot, the Haizhu bridge in Guangzhou. But none jumped and -- until Lian gave Chen a helping hand -- none was pushed.

never had any intent of jumping ,little baby wanted people to feel sorry for him. heard there had been as many as 5 others on the same stretch of bridge, doing the same thing,none of them jumped.
glad the old dude had guts to do what he did. read he got in trouble of course

should have gotten a medal..

PS I used to erect steel ( was a Iron worker, retired now) worked 5 times that high all day never had anyone worrying about us. little baby

As for the guy who pushed him off the bridge, from what I hear he had mental problems and has been released and the guy who got shoved off is seriously pissed off.

Has the world gone mad? If somebody holds up traffic for 5 hours while they threaten to kill themselves, they should be forced to go through with it, not wuss out and whine because somebody called their bluff and threw them off the fucking bridge!
