They ended it by saying they didn't think he was, and The Stig had a separate credits listing from Schu. I don't think it's him, just a wind up.

Yup. Guess we'll never know for sure, although schumacher did reference a previous episode of top gear from a while ago. He would only have known about it if he was a fan, or worked on the program.

I'm pretty sure Ben Collins has been the most 'regular' Stig. I also think they've used more than one. I could believe that Schumacher has filled his helmet before. I also think Damon Hill has done it before too.

Since Perry McCarthy was outed as the first Stig I reckon its more likely that they didn't bother getting a permanent replacement.

Yeah I did extensive research and pooled a lot of information from contacts I have in the industry. I coupled this research and information with 30 British Pence and a trip to a Paki shop, culminating in the purchase of a little known newspaper called The Sun. And in this 'Sun' newspaper I was able to learn what very few people know.

I don't know how much of it he watches of course, but I remember hearing him mention Top Gear amongst his 'favourite things' years ago in an interview.

EDIT: couldn't remember from when the new Stig took over, saw on the BBC site that it was 2002...Schumacher won his last title in 2004 and retired back end of October 2006. I'm not naive enough to think that every appearance of Stig had to be filmed on separate weeks, but we've seen sufficient different weather on the track that it took at least 7 or 8 days for a show that runs 4 or 5 months at a time every year. I can't believe Schumacher could've found the time, much less the BBC find the insurance costs (or permission from Ferrari).

makes sense...they only said a few minutes earlier that even those that bought them couldn't drive them and they stayed at Ferrari, so it's pretty much nailed on that they could have it on the show on the condition only Schumacher drove it (and some smartarse came up with the rest of that bullshit segment).

I'm not buying it either. I agree with the Ferrari theory... it's a bit like the demand that no Ferrari can suffer damage within a computer game. Outrun... no damage... PGR4.... scuffs, maybe, but no damage...

This is apparently why GRiD was short on cars... it was because Ferrari refused to let them use the models as the game was realistic and involved crashes. *

I reckon they only trusted Schuey with the car and fenagled the revealing into the show as part of the Ferrari test drive. **
